DEVELOPING: Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green can confirm they are working a trooper-involved shooting that occurred on I-65 in Warren County.

KSP is searching for a bluish gray Honda Civic that was present during a trooper-involved shooting on I-65 NB near the 38 MM in Warren County. (Alabama tag# TN018596.) This occurred earlier today. If you see this vehicle, please contact law enforcement.

Before Sunday’s matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals, our aircraft took to the skies over Levi’s Stadium for a flyover during the National Anthem.
 
Our S-70i Firehawk helicopter and S-2T airtanker gave fans a look at two of the aircraft that help CAL FIRE fight California’s wildfires.
 
Our personnel were also recognized on the field during the game following the flyover.

NEW: ICE has lodged an immigration detainer against a 31-year-old illegal immigrant from El Salvador accused of distributing fentanyl near a Virginia school.

According to ICE, Isaac Melendez-Carranza was arrested by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office on August 20th and charged with:
•Possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.
•Possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute fentanyl.

ICE says Melendez-Carranza illegally entered the United States after wading across the Rio Grande from Mexico. Border Patrol encountered him near Hebbronville, Texas, in April 2016.

ICE Washington lodged an immigration detainer and warrant of removal the same day as his arrest. The Loudoun County Adult Detention Center honors ICE detainers under its 287(g) agreement, despite Virginia's sanctuary policies.

Today, we face one of the most difficult moments an agency can endure as we announce the loss of one of our own. Trooper Hayden Phillips, Unit 369, made the ultimate sacrifice while patrolling I-65 in Warren County. He was assigned to Post 3 Bowling Green and was a graduate of Cadet Class 103. His dedication to duty and commitment to the commonwealth will not
be forgotten.

Our hearts break for Trooper Phillips’ family, loved ones, and fellow troopers as we grieve this tremendous loss. We will carry his memory with us, honor the life he lived and the badge he wore, and stand together as an agency to support this family in the days ahead.

Kentucky State Police identified the trooper killed while patrolling Interstate 65 in Warren County as Trooper Hayden Phillips.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Hayden Phillips is a former Glasgow police officer. He has been a state trooper for nearly four years.

Phillips was assigned to Post 3 in Bowling Green and was a graduate of Cadet Class 103, Kentucky State Police said.

“Trooper Hayden Phillips, Unit 369, made the ultimate sacrifice while patrolling I-65 in Warren County,” Kentucky State Police Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. said in a statement.

🚨Authorities are searching for Branch, who is believed to be driving a 2025 bluish-gray Honda Civic with an Alabama temporary license plate bearing the number TN018596. The vehicle was last reported near northbound I-65 at mile marker 75.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office described Branch as a Black man with dreadlocks pulled into a bun on top of his head.

As the search continues, law enforcement agencies are increasing their presence throughout the area. The Bowling Green Police Department reported that northbound I-65 is closed at mile marker 30 and urged motorists to find alternate routes.

The Elizabethtown Police Department also announced increased law enforcement activity in and around Elizabethtown and throughout Hardin County. Residents are being urged to remain alert, secure their vehicles and homes, and avoid approaching the suspect.

Authorities consider Branch armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him or the vehicle is urged to call 911 immediately.

UPDATE: KSP has canceled the 'Blue Alert' for the trooper-involved shooting. A suspect has been taken into custody by the LMPD.

Please, praying for the Arizona State Trooper who was seriously injured in the line of duty this morning.🙏🏻

On Monday, September 28, 2026, an Arizona Department of Public Safety Trooper sustained injuries as a result of a collision involving a commercial vehicle. The collision occurred at approximately 9:40AM on eastbound Interstate 10 within milepost 302, near Benson, Arizona.

The Trooper sustained significant injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the commercial vehicle was reported to be uninjured. The collision is being investigated by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The Pueblo Police Department is deeply saddened to share the passing of off-duty officer, Corporal Stephen Biggs.

He was in a wakeboarding accident on September 27, 2026, at Lake Pueblo State Park. After a search and recovery effort, his body was recovered on September 28, 2026, at approximately 2:00 a.m., with the Pueblo County Coroner's Office standing by.

Corporal Biggs has been employed with the Pueblo Police Department since October of 2010. During his career he served as a Patrol Training Officer, and he was a distinguished member of the SWAT team.  He had received 10 letters of commendation, three Medal of Valor awards, and the Distinguished Service award.

BREAKING: Former Utah death row inmate Douglas Carter appeared in court to address his potential release more than 40 years after he was convicted of murder.

Carter, who was convicted in the 1985 murder of Eva Olesen, appeared before a Utah County judge on Monday less than a week after prosecutors dropped the death penalty. This was in response to new evidence showing that Carter's DNA did not match the DNA at the crime scene.
