A U.S. military jet crashed off the San Luis Obispo coast after taking off from Point Mugu on Tuesday.

BREAKING: Democrats on the Senate Homeland Security Committee just blocked a Republican effort to offer immunity to a former Dr. Fauci assistant in exchange for her testimony. She has been accused of destroying government documents on Fauci's behalf. Only one Democrat showed up to the meeting (Sen. Hassan D-NH), the other six voted no by proxy. All eight Republicans showed up.

The resolution required a two-thirds vote to pass and it failed 8-7 along party lines.

The unnamed former Fauci assistant previously pleaded the Fifth Amendment before the committee and refused to answer any questions, hence the GOP effort to offer her immunity from prosecution in exchange for her testimony.

Republicans on the committee blasted their Democratic colleagues for not showing up, and for "having no interest in the truth."

Chairman Rand Paul (R-KY): "There's no principal reason to vote against giving her immunity, the only reason is that you don't want her to answer, and you do not want to know the truth."

Sen: Ron Johnson (R-WI): "I do not want to see Anthony Fauci's assistant go to jail. I want the truth. I think it's pretty obvious today, we only have one Democrat here, we're not going to get it."

NEW: Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-IL) says DHS is "the single greatest threat to our public safety today" while announcing a bill that dismantles DHS entirely & abolishes ICE. She claims her bill would keep TSA, FEMA, and CISA, but would get rid of ICE, CBP, and Border Patrol, and that customs work at ports of entry and airports would somehow continue, even though she would be eliminating the agency responsible for that customs work (CBP).

No CBP/Border Patrol/ICE = complete open borders and an end to all immigration enforcement entirely.

Ramirez says she will introduce the legislation in the coming weeks, and she knows it will be "agitating".

"Let's be frank, we know that this bill is going to be agitational," Ramirez said. "When they ask us why we made the choices we made, we're going to remind them of the moment we're living. We're going to remind them that in the last 72 hours, 28 year old Wilbur Rafael Garces Perez was shot in the back. And as of yesterday, he slept with a bullet in his back. We're going to remind them that the 57th person died in custody since January of 2025."

On September 20, 2026, Pilot Greg King, 56, and Pilot Ryan Cutter, 46, were killed in the line of duty while combating the Yosemite Dome Fire in California. 

Pilots King and Cutter were killed when their Eurocopter AS32 Super Puma helicopter crashed during water-drop operations on the Dome Fire in the Yosemite National Park near Wawona, just before 3 p.m. on that day.  According to fire officials, the helicopter departed from the Batterson Helipad outside Oakhurst and was scooping water from Ostrander Lake in Yosemite National Park when it crashed.  The aircraft, was contracted through Precision Helicopters for the U.S. Forest Service.

BREAKING OVERNIGHT: Eight police officers, 2 occupants and 2 dogs injured in a house fire overnight in Akron, Ohio.

AFD says 7 officers from Summa Hospital & 1 APD officer went in the burning duplex to help people out. All have smoke inhalation injuries. AFD rescued one person from the 3rd floor.

Of the 4 people in the house two were transported. The two dogs were carried out by AFD and given oxygen on scene.
