Iowa Hill deputy shooting updates: Placer sheriff breaks down fiery shootout.

A woman is dead, and her suspected killer also died after an hourslong gunbattle with deputies, where time was crucial as flames were closing in, the Placer County Sheriff's Office said Monday.  Derek Spencer, 44, was wanted for the killing of 76-year-old Cheryl Macy and had been on the run for nearly 20 hours, Placer County Sheriff Wayne Woo said during a news briefing.  Spencer was wanted after pointing a firearm at people in Placer County, in addition to other alleged felonies. The sheriff's office said that when Spencer was found by deputies around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, he rammed a vehicle stolen in El Dorado County into one of their patrol vehicles and managed to get away. Woo explained that Spencer had rammed the vehicle with enough force to disable it and prevent it from being able to chase after him.

An FAA equipment outage is impacting airports in the northeast US this morning. Flights to from Philadelphia through the New York area are being affected by diversions and ground stops. Newark is now our most disrupted airport with an average delay of 112 minutes.

Tempe Police say they grabbed him earlier in September near Arizona State University after he and another rider split traffic, did burnouts, and drag-raced motorcycles. This marks Vigil’s third arrest while awaiting trial for Lord’s k*lling, after a 2025 protection-order case and a February reckless-driving stop.
During his September court appearance, Vigil told the judge, "I'm not gonna say anything, you know. But, wasn't my fault, and I'm honestly gonna stay off of driving myself."
A judge added a $5,000 bond and stripped his driving privileges. A follow-up is set before Judge Sam Myers, who already refused prosecutors' request this spring to lock him back up.

A clip circulating online shows a Friday-night crowd on Sept. 18 packed outside a bar on East 6th Street, with a "Pour Choices" sign overhead. Presumably intoxicated individuals appear to be clashing with other patrons and seemingly outside staff.

Police and EMS were already working the same blocks this week after a cluster of suspected overdoses.

Fights on that street are not a surprise in downtown Austin these days, they're a pattern, and police officers can't be in every doorway when the sidewalk turns into a ring.

Looks like some of these guys are going to be feeling more than just the booze in the morning.

Praying for the Linden NJ Police Officer who was seriously injured in the line of duty this morning. 🙏🏻

A Linden Police Officer was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash this morning while participating in a funeral procession.

Shortly before 11:00 a.m., the Officer was traveling southbound on Roselle Street on a marked police motorcycle when he was involved in a collision with a Ford van that was entering a private driveway.

The Officer was transported to University Hospital in Newark with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the van was not injured.
