📰 News Release | Police Chief Tolber announces retirement after 28-year career

Redlands Chief of Police Rachel Tolber has announced her intention to retire at the end of the year, following a 28-year career with the Redlands Police Department. She began with the department as an intern in 1997, was sworn in as a police officer in 1998, and was appointed Chief of Police in 2023.

City Manager Charlie Duggan praised Chief Tolber's leadership and said a thorough process to identify the department's next leader is underway. Further details on the selection process and timeline will be shared as they are finalized.

NEW: A driver was fatally shot during a “violent roadside struggle” that also injured a state trooper, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, near Beulaville in Duplin County, about a 90-mile drive southeast from downtown Raleigh.

Master Trooper Connor Davis performed life-saving measures on the driver until EMS personnel arrived, officials said. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Davis, a seven-year veteran assigned to Duplin County, was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries suffered during the fight. Details of his condition have not been released.

NEW: Investigators with the Santa Ana CA Police Department are asking for the public's help to identify and find the suspects who stole a bronze Jesus statue from a Catholic church campus.

In an Instagram post, the department shared a picture of what remained of the statue: two bronze, barefoot feet affixed to a rock.

The Aug. 30 heist was captured on surveillance footage, showing two male suspects working to remove the $50,000 statue from Christ Our Savior Catholic Church in Santa Ana.

NEW: A Massachusetts state trooper was injured Wednesday morning after a two-car crash on I-95 in Westwood caused one of the cars to strike the trooper’s cruiser, according to State Police.

The cruiser was struck around 8:35 a.m. on the northbound side of the highway near University Avenue. The trooper suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital in an ambulance.

At least one person involved in the initial two-car crash also suffered minor injuries.

NEW: A Fairfield Police Officer was injured during an investigation that led to two arrests on Brentwood Avenue, according to reports.

The officer appeared to have sustained a leg injury and was transported to the hospital as well as the two suspects who appeared to have been on the crashed motorbike.
