BREAKING OVERNIGHT:
CMPD officer shot in west Charlotte. According g to CMPD an Officer responded to a call for service regarding a suspicious vehicle at approximately 12:28 a.m.

Preliminary information indicates that the officer encountered the suspect. The suspect then produced a firearm and fired his weapon in the direction of the officer, striking the officer.

The suspect fled the scene.

The officer did not fire their service weapon back at the suspect.

The injured officer was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and is currently in stable condition.

The suspect or suspects have not been caught.

YES, Lindsay Clancy's lawyer really asked President Trump for a pardon.

There are TWO fairly enormous problems with that:
First, Trump has already said Clancy “did a horrible, horrible thing” and that there would be a price to pay. That doesn't exactly sound like a ringing endorsement of clemency.

Second, we already watched this constitutional fight play out with Tina Peters. Trump announced a “full pardon” for Peters even though she was convicted of STATE crimes in Colorado. It didn't free her.

The Colorado Court of Appeals later ruled exactly why: presidents can pardon federal offenses. They cannot erase state convictions.

Lindsay Clancy is facing MASSACHUSETTS state m*rder charges. She deserves to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and a lawyer grasping at straws isn't going to change that.

HERO ALERT: A lot of fathers say they would die for their kids. Fred Pepperman actually did.

In July 2019, his three daughters became trapped in a powerful rip current off the Florida coast. Fred went after them.

Fred and others managed to get his daughters out of the water alive, but Fred did not survive.

The 53-year-old father was pulled from the water, CPR was performed, and he was later pronounced de*d at the hospital.

His wife said it better than anyone else could: “He did everything a dad is supposed to do.”

Three daughters survived that day because when they needed their father, he went straight into the water.

“I got you.”

Those may be three of the most powerful last words a father could leave behind. We need a reminder of what good, brave men look like in today's society. Let Fred be the example.

NEW: Two men were caught on camera getting into a fight Tuesday afternoon in San Francisco at Crissy Field's East Beach.

One of the men was James Hidalgo, a martial arts teacher who says he was just trying to walk his dog Argis when the other man approached him and became aggressive. The other man was taken away by officers with the United States Park Police.

NEW: Two Aurora Colorado police officers were involved in a crash and the suspect was arrested on Tuesday.

The crash occurred as officers were responding to a separate incident with lights and sirens activated. Two officers were injured and are being transported to an area hospital.

Police said the officers were responding with lights and sirens to a report of a fight during dismissal outside Prairie Middle School at the time of the crash. 
After the initial collision, the patrol vehicle rolled onto its side and into two other vehicles. A Good Samaritan helped rescue the officers from the patrol vehicle that had overturned and the officers were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. 

Investigators said the driver, a 32-year-old Aurora man, then tried to leave the scene of the crash, but was stopped by officers about a block away. Officers detained the suspect for suspected DUI, leaving the scene of a crash and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
