It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former Brecksville Ohio Police Chief Michael Carlin, who passed away on Saturday morning August 29th.

"Prior to joining our police department Chief Carlin was a decorated Marine who served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. He still holds the distinction of being the only Brecksville police officer in history to serve in every rank in our police department; patrolmen, sergeant, lieutenant and captain before ultimately becoming Brecksville’s 7th police chief. Chief Carlin excelled in all aspects of law enforcement. During his distinguished career he was a member of the SWAT team and was an early advocate for, and later led, our canine officers. He was a born leader who impacted many of the men still in our department."

WATCH: Wild footage shows Erik Gordon Shunn’s dramatic arrest in Clackamas County, Oregon, on Saturday after investigators say he fired more than 200 rounds during a standoff before setting down his rifle and attempting to flee on a red compact tractor.

𝗩𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗢 from the Aug. 29, 2026 incident in which SWAT detained Erik Gordon Shunn after he shot at arborists working on S. Rocky Bluff Lane.

The video shows Shunn firing at a Sheriff's Office drone, followed by the pinning of his tractor by a CCSO SWAT vehicle.

SWAT personnel chose to pin the tractor after Shunn became separated from his rifle while driving the tractor near the front of his residence. SWAT personnel used this window of opportunity because they believed it provided the highest likelihood of safely apprehending Shunn.

Investigators are seeking more info on Erik Shunn and damage to nearby property from Shunn's gunfire on Aug, 29. For details and more info on this incident, see our news release:

A Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officer riding a motorcycle was struck by another driver in Northeast D.C. on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. Sept. 2 at the intersection of Maryland Avenue and Bladensburg Road NE.

MPD said the officer is expected to survive their injuries and was taken to a hospital for medical treatment. No other injuries have been reported.

A Wisconsin police officer is now out of the hospital after being treated for non-life-threatening injuries following a hit-and-run incident on Tuesday.

According to a release from the Clintonville Police Department, an officer from the department responded to North 12th Street while on an open-line 911 call.

After arriving on the scene, a vehicle was found in the driveway of a home on North 12th Street, where a man inside the vehicle appeared to be arguing with a woman outside the vehicle.

The man started the vehicle upon the officer’s arrival. Ignoring the officer’s verbal commands to turn the vehicle off, the man hit the officer with the vehicle at a high rate of speed as he then fled from the scene.

The injured officer was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released Wednesday morning. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for a full officer's recovery🙏🏻

Please, praying for the Thurston County WA Sheriff's deputy who was shot in the line of duty last night.🙏🏻

TCSO deputies were dispatched to a domestic violence call in Rainier. Upon arrival, deputies were advised there was a deceased body inside the residence. A resident in crisis was asked to stay outside while medics responded but instead went inside and locked the doors.

Deputies attempted to force entry under exigency when shots were fired at them through the door. One deputy was injured as a result. A second deputy returned fire before both deputies retreated. The injured deputy was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Minutes later, he perished when the South Tower collapsed.

For two decades, Suman was unidentified until she came forward.

She has said he told her, “Ma’am, relax. We are here to help.” She believes she would not have made it without him.

Michael Bon, a 33-year-old Haitian illegal alien from Massachusetts, is accused of killing Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael Pahira Jr. in a deadly July 2 crash involving two tractor-trailers.
