On August 31, 2001, agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATF) served a felony arrest warrant in the Stephenson Ranch area of the Santa Clarita Valley. Personnel from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriffβs Station provided a local law enforcement presence during the operation.
As federal agents attempted to serve the warrant, the suspect opened fire on them, forcing the BATF agents to retreat. Sheriffβs personnel at the scene immediately requested additional assistance.
Motorcycle Deputy Hagop βJakeβ Kuredjian was among the first Los Angeles County Sheriffβs Department deputies to respond. After arriving, Deputy Kuredjian dismounted his motorcycle and moved into a position of cover. The suspect then fired at him with a high-powered rifle, striking him in the helmet.
Deputy Kuredjian had served with the Los Angeles County Sheriffβs Department for 17 years.

WATCH LIVE: Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, and anti-fraud task force vice chair Andrew Ferguson hold a news conference in Detroit.
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Bo8szN6qV/
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announces effective immediately, DOT is using an emergency executive action to shut down 110 trucking schools that have been involved in fraudulently certifying illegal aliens & non-citizens to obtain CDLs (commercial drivers license)
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announces an emergency executive shutdown of 110 driving schools tied to thousands of English proficiency violations.
"You have to speak English to operate a commercial motor vehicle."
Duffy says the schools account for 5,000 violations, stressing the English proficiency requirement for commercial drivers has been on the books for decades.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy sounds the alarm on massive safety loopholes left by the Biden administration, revealing how unvetted illegal immigrants were allowed to operate big rigs across America.
"The last administration let millions of illegals into the country... We couldn't go back and look at their countries of origin."
"We couldn't see their criminal records. We can't see their driving records. We basically have zero information about who these people are."
AFergusonFTC : "These schools are passing off these CDLs to people who haven't earned them; Putting forty ton weapons into the hands of people who are illegal immigrants β who can't speak English and then they hurt real Americans... that is why this fraud fight is important."
"POTUS is the one that stepped up... and is working to stop it."
Secretary Duffy drives the message home:
"This is not a conversation about illegals. You can have that debate."
"If you're here illegally and you can't speak the language...you don't deserve to be in a big rig driving on American roads, endangering American citizens."
Sec.Mullin: "Every death at the hands of an illegal alien is 100% preventable.
If you are here illegally, we will come after you and we will IMMEDIATELY remove you from this country."

βHIJAB HOCHULβ IS BACK: Less than TWO WEEKS before the 25th anniversary of 9/11, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is out COSPLAYING in an Islamic head covering at an event with Muslim leaders... while retired Port Authority cops are separately telling her to STAY AWAY from Ground Zero.
Hochul appeared Friday at an event publicized by the Islamic Cultural Center of New York, thanking an ambassador, an imam and other leaders while wearing the head covering. Video hit social media this weekend and the backlash exploded.
And the timing is unbelievable.
On September 11, New York will mark 25 years since Islamist terrorists murdered nearly 3,000 people, including 37 Port Authority police officers.
Now the 600-member Port Authority Retired Police Association has asked Hochul and Mayor Zohran Mamdani NOT to attend the Ground Zero ceremony, saying their presence would cause βprofound painβ to the 9/11 community over separate actions they consider deeply offensive.
Twelve days before one of the most painful anniversaries in New York history, THIS is the image the governor is choosing to put out there.
It's tone deaf, and it's not surprising whatsoever.

Virginia lost a Legend this weekend with the passing of Martinsville Sheriff Steve Draper.
"Sheriff Draperβs service to Martinsville began in 1973, when he first joined the Martinsville Sheriffβs Office. What began as a career in public service became a lifetime of dedication to this office, this community, and the people he was honored to serve.
In 1993, he ran for the Office of Sheriff and was elected by the citizens of Martinsville. He took office in 1994 and went on to serve as Sheriff for more than three decades, becoming known as the longest-serving Sheriff in the Commonwealth of Virginia. His extraordinary tenure reflected not only his devotion to public service, but also the tremendous trust the citizens of Martinsville placed in him throughout the years.
For more than half a century, Sheriff Draper dedicated his life to this community. He witnessed generations grow, worked alongside generations of employees, and served countless citizens throughout his career. To many, he was the Sheriff they had known for most, if not all, of their lives.
To the men and women of the Martinsville Sheriffβs Office, he was more than our Sheriff. He was a leader, mentor, colleague, and friend. His presence was a constant within this office, and his guidance, character, and commitment helped shape the Martinsville Sheriffβs Office into what it is today."
Rest Easy Brother. Prayers for his family of blue and blood.ππ»
