A Knox County Maine Sheriffβs deputy was seriously injured while attempting to arrest a wanted individual in Friendship, according to the Pen Bay Pilot.
It happened Wednesday afternoon during an ongoing investigation involving the Knox County Sheriffβs Oο¬ce, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA), and the Maine State Police, according to a news release from the Knox County Sheriffβs Office.
Authorities say a physical altercation occurred between the deputy and person he was trying to arrest resulting in serious injuries to the deputy.
His name was not released. He was in stable condition at last report.

NEW: A Mecklenburg NC County Sheriff deputy is injured after crashing his cruiser into a tree Wednesday morning.
The crash happened Main Street in Cornelius. It involved several other vehicles and a tree appears to have crashed down onto that sheriffβs cruiser.

Praise God for law enforcement: 163 KIDS were recovered, INCLUDING A TWO-MONTH-OLD BABY. THIS is the law-enforcement story that should be EVERYWHERE.
Florida's Operation Statewide Shield brought state, local and federal agencies together with one mission: find missing children and get them safe.
They recovered 163 children ranging from just 2 months old to 17. Three men have been arrested so far.
Authorities say many had experienced abuse, neglect, exploitation or exposure to criminal activity. Three felony cases have already been generated from the operation, with additional investigations continuing.
That is 163 children who were missing and are missing no longer because investigators, officers, agents, child advocates and partner organizations kept looking.

NEW: A bridge dedication is taking place in Millinocket Thursday to honor Maine State Police Detective Ben Campbell.
Campbell was killed in 2019 when he stopped to help a stranded driver on I-95 and was struck by a wheel that detached from a passing logging truck. He was 31 years old.
Campbell lived in Millinocket with his wife and son.
The bridge sits at the intersection of Route 11 and North Twin Dam Road.

Growing up as a first generation American citizen on Long Island NY, 9/11 hit extremely close to my family. On one of the worst days in American history when savage terrorists attacked our homeland, so many friends, neighbors, and other first responders ran toward danger to protect and serve their fellow Americans.
In the wake of so much tragedy, we saw the best of our country respond.
I was honored to visit the 9/11 Memorial in New York paying tribute to all those who defended America in her darkest hour. That includes the far too many who have died in the years since from 9/11 related illness in the FBI that Iβm extremely proud to lead. Their sacrifices - and the sacrifices of ALL law enforcement, first responders, and our military who gave their lives - will NEVER be forgotten.
And let it be known to any law enforcement organization who chooses to disrespect the brave souls who lost their lives on this day - you will have no friend in me, and no friend in this FBI.
