Officer James was commended for his courageous actions during a robbery investigation. While conducting an area check, he located a suspect connected to the incident and pursued him when he fled on foot.

Drawing on his extensive defensive tactics training and experience as a department instructor, Officer James safely controlled the suspect until additional officers arrived and completed the arrest. The suspect was later found to be in possession of a firearm.

Officer James demonstrated courage, sound judgment, and professionalism while safely resolving a potentially dangerous encounter. His actions exemplify the Chico Police Department’s commitment to dedicated service and creating a safer Chico.

UPDATE: Colorado State Patrol says one of the troopers who was injured in a shooting today has been released from the hospital.

Officials say the trooper had suffered minor injuries and was discharged from the hospital, expected to make a full recovery.

Law enforcement confirms that the suspect involved in this morning's shooting of two state troopers has died.

CSP confirms that a trooper conducted a traffic stop around 7:15 a.m. on Highway 24 west of Woodland Park when the driver of the vehicle shot at the trooper.

CSP says a second trooper in the area arrived within minutes and entered the subdivision the suspect was believed to have driven into. The suspect shot at the second trooper while driving in the opposite direction, hitting the second trooper while he was in his car, according to CSP.

One trooper suffered serious injuries, and the other suffered minor injuries, according to law enforcement. During a press conference, law enforcement said both troopers are expected to recover. CSP says one trooper is a 15-year veteran, and the other is a 10-year veteran. Teller County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) says the troopers self-transported to the hospital.

An investigation continues into a Pico Rivera deadly domestic violence incident, where the sheriff’s office says a father and adult son are dead, while the wife is being treated for her injuries at a hospital.

BREAKING: An San Jose police officer was shot and a suspect neutralized Tuesday evening, prompting a massive law enforcement response near Goodyear Street and Lick Avenue, according to two law enforcement sources.

A significant law-enforcement response is underway, and the MERGE (SWAT) unit is reportedly on scene. San Jose police officers, and Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies are also on scene.

NEW: The FBI and local police are conducting raids Tuesday morning at Quality Behavioral Health locations in Detroit, Troy & more.

The FBI confirmed that agents were present on Detroit’s east side Tuesday morning conducting “law enforcement activities.” The FBI would not confirm why agents were at the locations, MDN reports.

Quality Behavioral Health provides addiction treatment services, including detox, residential and outpatient treatment.
