We HATE having to call out police officers, but backing the badge does not mean ignoring conduct like this.

Former officers Antonio Felix and Luis Vasquez Jr. were arrested and fired after an investigation into an August 5 traffic stop that was never reported.

Police say neither officer activated a body camera. Investigators determined that a man and woman were physically assaulted during the stop and that a Taser was used.

New court documents make it even worse.

Vasquez allegedly admitted punching the driver, pulling his hair, drawing his gun and threatening to shoot him. He also acknowledged that he never activated his body camera or wrote a report because he feared the consequences of the policy violations.

Felix also admitted his involvement in the stop.

Both men now face serious felony charges, including kidnapping and aggravated assault.

The overwhelming majority of officers serve honorably and deserve our support. We share their incredible stories of heroism and bravery every day. That is exactly why there should be ZERO tolerance for officers accused of abusing their authority and then trying to hide it.

NEW: A child was killed, and a Harris County Sheriff's Office deputy was injured in a crash in Northwest Harris County on Sunday morning, HCSO said.

According to authorities, a deputy vehicle and a Toyota truck collided near the intersection of TC Jester Boulevard and Tomlinson Trail at about 12:40 a.m.

The sheriff's office said the child, under 12 years old, was in the front passenger seat of the Toyota without a seatbelt when they were ejected during the crash.

The deputy involved in the crash gave the child CPR at the scene before the child was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, investigators said.

Investigators said they plan to request a search warrant for blood, and if the driver is found to be intoxicated, he will be charged with intoxicated manslaughter for causing the child's death.

The sheriff's office said the deputy had a clinician in the passenger seat, who was injured too. Both the deputy and clinician were taken to the hospital for minor injuries, HCSO said. Praying for all involved🙏🏻

I was posing for a photo that was taken by our CSI officer, and the story behind this pic is that there was a homicide scene just to the right of me. A transient was murdered by another transient and he was completely buried except for his big toe that was protruding through the dirt.

You see, LEOs and other first responders deal with crime scenes involving homicides and or death differently than the average person. It’s almost as though we disconnect our emotions so that way can do a job that most people will not do. And that is why I have much respect for those who protect and serve, and for doctors and nurses who work tirelessly at our hospitals.

NEW: A Frijoles Fire New Mexico crew member died after having a medical emergency Sunday, fire managers confirmed.

An incident support crew member was taken to a local hospital Sunday. Emergency medical responders tried to save the crew member but they died.

BREAKING: Two former city councilmen from Baldwin Park and Compton were sentenced today to 18 months in federal prison for engaging in corrupt acts while they were elected officials, including the payment and acceptance tens of thousands of dollars in bribes for a police union’s support and to obtain official city permits for marijuana cultivation.

Ricardo Pacheco, 63, of Baldwin Park, received an 18‑month federal prison sentence, a $10,000 fine, and must forfeit $219,755.

DENIED AGAIN: Karmelo Anthony wanted a NEW TRIAL after being convicted of murdering 17-year-old Austin Metcalf. A different judge just told him NO.

Anthony was convicted in June after stabbing Metcalf during a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas. His attorneys argued self-defense, but the jury rejected it and sentenced him to 35 years.

His new legal team then attacked the conviction from every direction, including courtroom-access claims, an informal agreement between attorneys and allegations involving the original trial judge.

That hearing also resurfaced some of the disturbing messages we already told you about, including Anthony allegedly sending his ex-girlfriend a photo of a knife with the message “im lowk on the verge” and another text about stabbing someone and “lick[ing] their blood off the blade.”

Those messages were not shown to the original jury because both sides had agreed to keep damaging background material about the teens out of the trial. Anthony still lost.

And now, after a separate judge reviewed the case, his bid for a new trial has been DENIED. His attorneys say they plan to appeal.

BREAKING: Multiple adults and children were killed at a home on White Star Circle in Billings, Montana, after what police said started as a family disturbance.

A man killed eight of his relatives, including four children, as they gathered for Sunday dinner at a home in Billings, Montana, just weeks after his parents forced him to move out.

Brad Ireland, whose former wife and two children were among the dead, identified the shooter as 44-year-old Alan Smith. Smith's parents, who were also killed, had asked him to move out, but he returned on Sunday and opened fire, Ireland said.

AOC recently repeated the now-viral phrase "Woke 1 was crazy" while discussing rhetoric from the political and cultural upheaval around 2020.

Texas DPS Trooper Zachary Vasquez (pictured here with his loyal K-9 partner, Guido) released from rehabilitation after head-on crash near Alpine.

Vasquez, 26, an Alpine-based DPS canine trooper, was seriously injured June 23 when another vehicle crossed into his lane on U.S. Highway 67 about five miles east of Alpine.

Vasquez has made steady progress during his recovery. Earlier this month, the DPS Officers Association reported that the Army veteran had reached another major milestone by taking his first 30 steps since the crash.

His release from rehabilitation marks a major step in a recovery that began with severe injuries on a West Texas highway and continued through multiple surgeries and weeks of intensive therapy

PAY ATTENTION. The rules governing how police can use AI and data are
being written RIGHT NOW. And if law enforcement isn't at the table, someone else will make those decisions for them.

AI is already being used by agencies to analyze information, generate
investigative leads and help draft police reports.

At the same time, states across America are passing sweeping new privacy
laws. California has already enacted specific safeguards governing AI-generated police reports. Privacy absolutely matters.

But so does making sure responsible law-enforcement agencies don't lose
lawful tools that help recover stolen vehicles, find missing people and investigate serious crimes because politicians wrote rules without understanding how those tools are actually used.

Retired LVMPD Sgt. Troyce Krumme says law enforcement needs to LEAD this conversation instead of waiting for regulations to be handed down. Protect privacy. Demand accountability. Put safeguards in place. But give the people doing the job a seat at the table.
