TODAY marks the grand reopening of the Palisades Village, 19 months after the Palisades Fire. The Village a sign of hope and progress while only a handful of the 5000 plus homes destroyed in the fire have started to rebuild.

β€œFor as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”

About 9 p.m. on August 15, 1997, Deputy Sheriff Shayne D. York and his fiancΓ©e, Deputy Sheriff Jennifer Parish were getting their hair cut in a salon in Buena Park when two Los Angeles gang members, Andre Willis and Kevin Boyce, in the midst of a robbery spree, entered and conducted an armed takeover of the business.

The two suspects ordered all the patrons to the ground and then collected their wallets and identification. When they learned that Deputy York and Parish were deputy sheriffs their attitudes changed.

Boyce said, β€œThis is for the way you treat brothers and Crips… in prison.” He then shot Deputy York in the back of the head and told Deputy Parish, β€œYou’re lucky you are a woman, or I’d kill you, too.” Among the items Willis and Boyce stole were Deputy Parish’s engagement ring. They threw Deputy York’s badge in the trash as they fled. The pair then traveled to Yorba Linda and robbed a Lamp Post pizza parlor a short time later. Their crime spree ended when their car was stopped by the Fullerton Police Department near midnight and they were arrested.

Deputy York was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. Despite all efforts to save him, he passed away the next day. In addition to his fiancΓ©e, Deputy York, 26, was survived by his parents and his brother.

Both Deputies York and Parish were working jail assignments at the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic at the time of his murder. A memorial was erected for him outside the Pitchess Detention Center – East jail where he was assigned.

In September 2000, the vicious nature of Deputy York’s murder earned the death penalty for Boyce. Willis received a sentence of from 160 years to life.

On August 10, 2016, a ceremony was held at Deputy York’s memorial outside the Pitchess Detention Center – East jail dedicating a memorial sign in his honor on the Interstate 5 Freeway exit near the Castaic jail complex. One of the speakers at the event was Deputy York’s father, Dan. Also in attendance were Sheriff Jim McDonnell, members of the LASD command staff and friends and family of Deputy York.

Praise God! President Trump announces American missionary Kevin Rideout is FREE after more than nine months in captivity.

Three armed men abducted Rideout in Niamey, Niger, on October 21, 2025. For more than nine months, his family and fellow missionaries waited without knowing when, or whether, he would be released.

Now President Trump says Rideout is back in U.S. custody and in good health.

An American missionary was taken by armed captors on foreign soil. Today he is alive, free and under American protection.

THAT is what Americans should expect from their government.

Weak leaders deliver excuses about why citizens cannot be rescued. America First leadership makes bringing them back a national priority.

Welcome Kevin back and pray for every American still being held overseas. No American should ever be abandoned.

πŸ’° TAX DOLLARS AT WORK: Hochul just committed $7.25 MILLION to legal services for roughly 1,400 unaccompanied immigrant children facing removal proceedings.

The money will flow through a coalition led by the Hispanic Federation after a federal legal-services contract expired on July 31.

New York had other options: recruit pro bono attorneys as federal law encourages, fund basic legal orientation, press federal officials for faster hearings and demand enforcement of final removal orders. Paid representation could be prioritized for trafficking victims and children whose cases present potentially valid claims for protection.

Not to mention the federal government had already assigned a temporary legal-services provider and awarded a new contract BEFORE Hochul announced this spending.

Even so, now New Yorkers will pick up the bill while total state funding for the Office for New Americans approaches a staggering $87 MILLION.

Families are being crushed by rent, groceries, utilities and the second-highest overall state tax burden in America. Albany’s priority is building an even larger taxpayer-funded immigration legal machine.

Should New Yorkers be forced to finance these removal fights?

NEW: Arkansas State Police arrested a man after a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 555 ended in a crash that seriously injured two elderly people.

According to state police, the pursuit began around 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, when a trooper attempted to stop a northbound Hyundai Sonata near the 24-mile marker for a traffic violation.

Police said the driver, identified as 32-year-old Laloyd L. Hamilton, refused to stop and accelerated to speeds of approximately 130 mph.

As the pursuit reached the 28-mile marker, the trooper used a tactical vehicle intervention, causing Hamilton’s vehicle to collide with another vehicle. The third vehicle overturned on the east side of the interstate.

A 68-year-old woman and a 73-year-old man were inside the other vehicle. Both were taken to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis with serious injuries. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for their recoveryπŸ™πŸ»

Following the crash, investigators searched Hamilton’s vehicle and reportedly found narcotics, including marijuana, pills and an unidentified liquid substance.

Hamilton was booked into the Poinsett County Detention Center on charges including felony fleeing, second-degree battery, criminal mischief, possession with purpose to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, hazardous driving and driving while intoxicated.

UPDATE: At least six deaths in Indiana have been linked to storms that triggered what many described as historic flooding, according to Gov. Mike Braun.

Several dozen people and their pets were rescued Saturday as floodwaters rose along the White River in Indianapolis, and emergency managers said that number was expected to climb as authorities in the city and elsewhere in central Indiana responded to the ongoing flood threats.

"This is one of those once-in-a-lifetime type floods," Jacob Spence, director of Marion County Emergency Management, told The Associated Press. "So yeah, this is an unprecedented event and unfortunately we're setting some new records."

Gov. Mike Braun: "I spoke with President Trump today about the severe storms and historic flooding impacting Indiana, and he informed me that he intends to approve our request for a Presidential Emergency Declaration.

I’m grateful to President Trump for his commitment to getting Hoosiers the federal assistance we need as we continue responding and recovering."
