NEW: President Trump is cutting off Medicaid funding for gender-transition hormones and surgeries for minors, a move that could reshape coverage across at least 17 states.
The president praises the change as a way to stop children from undergoing procedures he calls harmful and irreversible, pointing to dozens of hospitals that have already ended such care.
The shift puts federal Medicaid dollars at the center of the administration's broader push to restrict gender-transition treatment for minors.

BREAKING: HCSO Florida announces the results of Human Trafficking operation.
"From June 8 to August 5, 2026, HCSOβs Human Trafficking Section, Internet Predator Squad, and Sexual Predator Unit worked together to identify and arrest individuals preying on children, women, and vulnerable members of the community. The operation resulted in 116 arrests and the recovery of five victims of human trafficking.
We carried out multiple enforcement strategies during the operation, including residential search warrants, warrants connected to dark web activity, undercover online chat and hotel/motel operations, traveling-to-meet-a-minor investigations, and sex offender checks.
Among those arrested was Frank Amiekumo, 35, who is accused of trafficking women and girls across Texas, Louisiana, and Florida for approximately four years. Detectives identified five victims in the case, three adult women and two juvenile girls, and believe additional victims may not yet have come forward. Amiekumo is being held at Orient Road Jail on no bond.
Selah Freedom and One More Child provided victim services throughout the operation.
Since the Human Trafficking Sectionβs inception in 2021, it has made 1,343 arrests. The Internet Predator Unit, established in 2024, has made 368 arrests, and the Sexual Predator Unit, also established in 2024, has made 236 arrests.

When Cars Heat Up, Pets Pay the Price
Animal Control Officers Clark and Duplan responded to The Ridge Recreation Center after witnesses reported a dog locked inside a silver van. Video showed the dog had been left unattended for nearly four hours while outside temperatures were in the 80s.
The windows were closed, the doors were locked and there was no visible airflow. The dog was panting heavily, barking and showing signs of heat distress while sitting in direct sunlight. Recreation center staff searched nearby facilities and made announcements, but the owner could not be located. The van also had no license plates, preventing officers from quickly identifying the owner.
A JCSO deputy broke the passenger-side window, allowing Animal Control Officers to safely remove the dog through another door. The temperature inside the shaded side of the van was also in the 80s. Animal Control Officer Rivera placed the dog in an air-conditioned vehicle and transported it to Deer Creek Animal Hospital.
Veterinary staff determined the dog was stable, with only a slightly elevated body temperature. The dog was later returned to its owner, who reported that the vanβs air conditioning had been left on but apparently stopped working. The owner was issued a summons for animal cruelty.
Vehicle air-conditioning systems can fail. Sunshades and having the windows cracked are never enough. Donβt leave an animal unattended in a vehicle.

THREE DAYS. That is how long this career criminal was out of prison before he allegedly preyed on a defenseless 90-year-old woman.
Police say 29-year-old Jonathan Rivaldo forced his way into the womanβs apartment at the Dayspring Apartments in Corning, New York, around 2 a.m. on July 13.
Investigators accuse him of brutally assaulting and s*xually violating her during a completely random attack. She passed away from her injuries one week later.
Authorities say Rivaldo had been released from prison only THREE DAYS earlier after serving more than four years for aggravated vehicular assault.
A grand jury has now indicted him on 17 counts, including second-degree mrder, predatory s*xual assault, first-degree rpe and burglary.
He was then accused of possessing a makeshift cutting weapon inside the Steuben County Jail.
This innocent woman should have been safe inside her own home.
Instead, the system put a repeat offender back on the streets, and victim paid for it with her life. How many innocent people have to be sacrificed before protecting the public becomes the priority?
