Throughout his career, Detective Richards has been known for his positive attitude, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to serving others.

His contributions to advancing the department’s technological capabilities, along with his tireless advocacy for children through our ICAC unit, have made a lasting impact on both the department and the community we serve.

Thank you for your 31 years of service, Detective Richards. We wish you all the best in your retirement and you will be greatly missed.

NEW: DHS confirms that a suspect arrested in Illinois for being found in possession of eight Molotov cocktails is a Jordanian illegal alien who was caught and released at the California border by the Biden administration in 2024. DHS says Hamed Mohammed Hamed Alsaidi was arrested by ICE after local police in Will County, IL arrested him, then released him and refused to honor ICE’s detainer request due to sanctuary policies & Illinois’ SAFE-T Act.

He was seen wandering aimlessly in traffic and gave officers a fake name. Once he was arrested, officers learned his real name and discovered the Molotov cocktails, which had gauze stuck in the tops of them to use as a wick.

Police say he also had a written map of the area, including a local train station, and the words “you see the mosque” written down.

Alsaidi is charged locally with felony unlawful possession of a weapon and misdemeanor obstructing identification and remains in ICE custody.

MURDER CHARGE... FOR THIS? An Aurora police officer was indicted after a suspect fled police, crashed into TWO cars, fought the officer, and then kept advancing as the officer RETREATED.

Officer Matthew Neely is now facing second-degree m*rder and manslaughter charges over the 2025 shooting of Rajon Belt-Stubblefield. Belt-Stubblefield ignored repeated commands, got out of the vehicle and physically struggled with Neely.

Instead of surrendering, he continued advancing toward Neely while the officer backed away roughly 50 FEET and repeatedly ordered him to get on the ground.

This is insane. How far should an officer let a violent interaction go before he defends himself? How can he know that there is no threat to the community when the perpetrator just won't stop coming at him?

NEW: Dearborn Heights police have impounded a Cadillac CT5-V that investigators say blocked Warren Avenue and performed donuts during a wedding celebration in late July. Police are working to identify several other vehicles involved. Mayor Mo Baydoun said the city will continue tracking down drivers who stop traffic to perform reckless stunts, saying they put innocent motorists at risk.

Deputies respond to all types of calls and need to be prepared for just about any encounter. This morning, Deputies were called to the Elk City Cemetery due to a fawn that had been caught in the fence. With a little bit of teamwork, the fawn was freed from the fence. Deputies attempted to corral the fawn to have an animal control officer check on it, but it ran into the field. Deer are noted to be incredibly resilient; however, and it is expected to re-grow its hair and make a full recovery.

NEW: More than 18 people were rescued by firefighters from a burning multi-story apartment building in San Francisco’s Fillmore neighborhood early Thursday morning. NEW: A Grappler deployment, UAS footage, 40 minutes of commands and negotiations with a non-compliant suspect, utilizing multiple less-lethal options, a K9 deployment, and some great patrol tactics and teamwork. ✔️🚔👏

This all started after multiple callers reported a driver who appeared to be impaired, passed out behind the wheel and inhaling from compressed air cans while driving. Officers located the vehicle and observed the driver continue inhaling from a can before attempting a traffic stop.

The driver didn’t stop. Instead, he continued driving, struck a curb, accelerated, and nearly drove into a yard. With the driver’s actions creating an immediate danger to others on the road, Officer Cooke deployed the Grappler and successfully brought the vehicle to a stop. 💪
