Gann Fire updates: A Calaveras County wildfire that crews are trying to gain control over has led to school closures Wednesday as smoke is affecting nearby air quality. Evacuations also remain in effect.  The Calaveras County sheriff on Tuesday also proclaimed a local state of emergency due to the fire that continues to burn thousands of acres and has burned at least two homes.  The Gann Fire started shortly before 5:30 p.m. Monday near Hogan Dam and Gann roads near New Hogan Lake.

Officer Austin Abdelnabi, a member of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and a proud U.S. Marine veteran, passed away at the age of 30 after being injured while answering a call for help on Tuesday.

Since joining the department in November 2023, he had committed himself to serving and protecting his community. Before wearing the badge, he earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Clemson University and dedicated his life to public service.

Authorities said officers were responding to reports of an armed individual when Officer Abdelnabi was struck. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he sadly lost his life.

His passing has left an enormous void in the hearts of his family, fellow officers, friends, and everyone who knew him. County leaders are honoring his sacrifice by lowering flags in remembrance.

Stephen Miller: This may be hard to believe that you could steal hundreds of thousands and ultimately millions of dollars and not do any significant jail time. I think probably the simplest explanation is that when Congress was drafting these statutes, they still lived in a high-trust society, and it eclipsed their imagination that there would be systemic, widespread, continual lying, fleecing, and organized crime to rip off hundreds of billions of dollars from the American taxpayer, which is what has happened. There needs to be strict, clear, mandatory minimums.

The Democratic Socialists of America has put its vision for the country in writing — and it goes far beyond higher taxes or expanded government programs.

Its “Workers Deserve More” platform calls for abolishing the Senate and ICE, moving toward fully abolishing police and prisons, establishing public ownership of major corporations and essential industries, and extending voting rights to permanent U.S. residents.

It also proposes replacing the President and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress.

These aren’t predictions about what the DSA might want someday. They’re laid out in the organization’s own platform.

GAME OVER for the communist autonomous zone in Wisconsin.

Protesters seized a Madison intersection for nearly two weeks after a police shooting and declared it their own territory. When the city finally moved to clear the street, the radicals lit fires and threw rocks at workers.

Madison police and state patrol stepped in hard, protected the cleaning crews, and restored order. The road is open again.

Lawlessness does not get to claim American streets.

And that is why we are delivering these historic results, returning these individuals to America for justice.

And most importantly, once they are in our justice system, we have seized these funds, and we are going to get them back to the senior citizens that were fleeced of their life savings and their retirements.

That is the mission of law enforcement.
