It was a privilege to present fallen Deputy Maria Cecilia Rosa’s family with her encased Department flat badge and identification card, recently released from evidence by the Long Beach Police Department following the conclusion of the murder investigation. Deputy Rosa’s sister, Sandra, along with other family members, joined me and Department Executives for this deeply meaningful moment of remembrance. In addition, Department members from IRC placed Deputy Rosa’s duplicate badge in her memorial, located just outside of IRC Operations.

Deputy Maria β€œCeci” Rosa was born in 1975 and grew up in Gilroy, California. She joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on July 6, 2000, as a member of Academy Class #313 and served at the Inmate Reception Center (IRC). She was affectionately known as β€œCeci,” and well respected by partners, co‑workers, and supervisors due to her being a dedicated, hardworking deputy sheriff.

On March 28, 2006, Deputy Rosa was tragically murdered in Long Beach while leaving a friend’s home to report for duty. She was survived by her sister and two brothers.

Two suspects were arrested and convicted. The gunman received a death sentence, and the second suspect was sentenced to 29 years in prison. Both admitted they knew she was a peace officer. The case recently returned to court as one of the suspects sought resentencing, arguing that because Deputy Rosa worked within the Custody Division, she was not acting as a full peace officer under California statute 830.1(a). Judge Lowenthal firmly rejected that claim, ruling that Deputy Rosa was indeed an 830.1(a) PC certified peace officer, and the original sentence was upheld.

Today’s presentation of her Department badge and ID serves as a powerful reminder of Deputy Rosa’s service, sacrifice, and the lasting impact she made on our department and community.

Washington wildfires updates: Firefighters in eastern Washington are struggling to gain the upper hand on the wildfires devastating the Spokane area. The three blazes have forced tens of thousands to flee and destroyed more than 700 buildings. Authorities arrested a man suspected of starting the fire considered to be the most destructive.

Since Saturday night, the Autumn Lane Fire has grown by just over 2,000 acres as firefighters continue full suppression efforts across the incident. On Monday, crews made significant progress constructing and strengthening containment lines along the northwest and southeast portions of the fire. As of Tuesday morning, the Autumn Lane Fire is estimated at approximately
5,603 acres. During the night shift, firefighters quickly responded to two spot fires, one on the Old Trails Fire and one on the Fairview Fire, that crossed established containment lines and successfully contained both before additional spread could occur.

Although firefighters continue making progress, all three fires remain active with areas of significant heat and interior burning. Crews are focused on strengthening containment lines, extinguishing hot spots, protecting homes and critical infrastructure, and reducing the potential for additional fire spread.

Aircraft continue to play a critical role in supporting ground operations, particularly on the Autumn Lane Fire. However, aerial firefighting operations were temporarily suspended after an
unauthorized drone entered the Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over the incident. When drones enter restricted airspace, firefighting aircraft must immediately stop flying, delaying suppression efforts during critical periods and increasing risks to firefighters on the ground. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and law enforcement have been notified, and an investigation is underway.

Damage assessments are now underway across the fire area. Preliminary estimates indicate that at least 700 structures have been impacted by the Spokane Area Fires. These numbers are
subject to change as assessment teams continue conducting systematic evaluations to determine the full extent of the damage.

NEW: President Trump blasts the rise of socialist-backed candidates within the Democratic Party:

"I think it's crazy because they're going to ruin our country."

"Anybody doing what they're doing and what they're espousing, everything turns out to ashes and junk and filth."

"You go to these cities that are taken over by the socialists and the communists. They're always filthy, dirty, they're disgusting, they're always dirty. And that's what you'll get."

BREAKING: Armed suspect arrested at Rancho Palos Verdes golf course ahead of Trump visit. LASD deputies and federal partners arrested 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele of Downey following a security investigation at Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos…
Jeanine John Taele, 38, of Downey, was arrested at Trump National Golf Course Los Angeles in Rancho Palos Verdes, is charged in a federal criminal complaint with possession of an unregistered short-barreled rifle, a felony carrying a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison.

Taele was detained after being seen taking photos and video of security-planning activities ahead of President Trump’s visit to the golf club today.

LASD deputies found ammunition in Taele’s pocket, searched his vehicle, and seized a loaded pistol with a round chambered and a loaded magazine.

A search of Taele’s residence seized high-powered firearms, ammunition, body armor, and a notebook.

Taele is charged in Los Angeles Superior Court with firearms-related crimes and a 2025 robbery. He was granted $250,000 bail in that case.

He is expected to make his initial appearance in the United States District Court in Los Angeles soon after his transfer to federal custody.

While investigating this individual’s motives, we are thankful he was apprehended before the President’s visit. The FBI, ATF, Secret Service, and LASD intervened early and prevented a potentially dangerous situation. We thank them for their quick work.

This remains an active investigation.

Great news for the Republican Party. El-Sayed, a Communist loser who hates Jews and Israel, is the projected winner in his race with the Socialist. As usual, the Polls were way off on this one. She was not expected to do nearly as well as she did. Now, the Dumocrats crazy policies will only get worse!

NEW: GOP Michigan Senate nominee Mike Rogers releases statement after Abdul El-Sayed wins the Dem primary:

"I spent years hunting terrorists and bringing Osama bin Laden to justice. Never in a million years did I think that I would be running against someone who believes America deserved 9/11. Abdul doesn't represent a vision for the future. He's leading a movement grounded in ideological fanaticism. His agenda would make our communities less safe and our state less affordable. He wants to empty prisons and put murderers and sex offenders back on our streets. He pledged his support to the Muslim Brotherhood and campaigns with people who refuse to condemn terrorism. And, he advocated for the largest tax hike in American history β€” costing families already struggling to make ends meet over $3000 more per year. This election isn't just about choosing a Senator. It's about deciding whether Michigan has a future built on common sense β€” or whether we hand the keys to the most fringe extremists in the nation."

We have a state to save, Michigan. Let's Get to Work.”
