Yesterday challenged our department in ways that no agency hopes to face. Today, we were reminded that we never face those challenges alone. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the officer from the Nampa Police Department, Caldwell Police Department, Meridian Police Department - Idaho and Idaho State Police who answered the call and helped patrol our streets today.
While we may wear different uniforms, we serve as one. In moments like these, badges, patches, and agency names take a back seat to our shared commitment to protecting our communities. We are one team with one mission.
To our community, thank you. Your thoughts, kindness, and support have meant more than words can express. We are grateful to serve a community that stands with us.

Sheriff Dodson (shown here with Trooper Zach Vasquez and DPS Sergeant Jonathan Rutledge) made a trip to El Paso to visit Trooper Vasquez, and present him a check for $10,000. This donation, to help with expenses incurred following last monthβs vehicle crash, is the result of raffle ticket sales.
During the visit, Trooper Vasquez randomly selected the winning ticket for the Springfield 1911. The winner will soon be contacted.
Many thanks to the Alpine Volunteer Fire Department and Texas DPS for assisting in ticket sales. Also, thanks to everyone who purchased tickets and otherwise donated your support.
Sheriff Dodson reports Trooper Vasquez is doing well and looking forward to his return to Alpine-mostly sleeping in his own bed!
We ask that you continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers during his recovery.

Wanted to keep this on EVERYONE'S radar. The Chinese Communist Partyβs unrestricted warfare doctrine is not a theory. It is the operating plan for defeating the United States without conventional battle.
Economic coercion, cyber infiltration, intellectual property theft, influence operations, and lawfare are the core of their strategy to weaken America from within. This blueprint has guided CCP actions for more than two decades while too many in Washington treated China as a normal trading partner. We aren't guessing at this; it's well known.
President Trump has repeatedly warned that the real competition is already happening on these fronts. Ignoring the strategy only hands the advantage to Beijing.
How seriously do you believe the CCP threat is being taken right now?

Former Minneapolis Police Officer Tou Thao says he believes he was set up to be killed during a prison attack.
He also says his Christian faith is what gave him the strength to stand on the truth, even when it cost him everything.
βI couldβve taken the easy way out and sided with the woke mob. If I had, Iβd probably never have gone to prisonβ¦ who knows, I mightβve even ended up as the chief of Minneapolis.β
Whether you agree with him or not, thatβs a powerful statement about choosing conviction over personal gain

A Milwaukee man with a prior fatal driving conviction has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after another crash left a 4-year-old girl dead and her mother seriously injured.
Donald Crayton pleaded guilty to second-degree reckless homicide and two hit-and-run counts after striking his live-in girlfriend and her daughter, Zekani Hymes-Wilson, as they crossed the street to get pizza.
Crayton had never been issued a driverβs license and had previously served time after a separate fatal crash.
The judge sentenced him to 20 years in prison, followed by 15 years of extended supervision, and ordered him never to drive again.
Do you think the sentence was enough?

NEW: Lane County Oregon deputy injured in Glenwood while making an arrest.
Deputies responding to a reported menacing call in Springfield on July 31 found a suspect had already broken into a separate location with people inside, then barricaded himself after climbing through a broken window, according to the Lane County Sheriffβs Office.
A little after 11 a.m., deputies were called to the 4200 block of Franklin Boulevard after callers reported a man entered a convenience store, assaulted an employee and then left the business. The suspect was later identified as 40-year-old Douglas Alvin Haley of Springfield. Authorities said Haley continued to threaten people in the area.
One deputy was injured while making entry but continued to engage Haley until he was detained. The sheriffβs office said the deputy required a tourniquet to stop a major bleed and suffered other injuries. The deputy was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment and was reported to be recovering in stable condition. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for his recoveryππ»

A Mexican national convicted in connection with the crash that killed a 21-year-old U.S. Marine is now facing deportation for the third time.
Martin Martinez-Ballinas was first deported in 2020 after serving his sentence for the 2017 crash that killed Marine James Ray Walden III.
He was caught trying to illegally reenter the country in 2021, served 15 months in prison and was deported again in October 2022.
Federal authorities say he later returned to the United States yet again.
ICE took custody of Martinez-Ballinas on July 22 after he completed another federal prison sentence for illegal reentry.
Waldenβs father is now speaking out, saying the case shows exactly why immigration enforcement matters.
