BREAKING: Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes has resigned, and Mayor Katie Wilson has appointed Deputy Chief Andre Sayles to serve as interim chief, the mayor’s office announced Thursday afternoon.

Barnes was appointed by Mayor Bruce Harrell in late 2024, and the mayor’s office said he made “substantial contributions to public safety in Seattle.”

Sayles, who the mayor named interim chief, has more than 20 years of law enforcement experience, including serving as chief of police in Beloit, Wisconsin, according to the mayor’s office. In 2025, Sayles joined the Seattle Police Department as deputy chief of administration and investigations.

NEW: Two people riding an e-scooter were arrested after colliding with a police vehicle in Queens, NYC on Thursday.

The collision happened around 7:30 p.m. on 101st Street and Northern Boulevard. Two people on the scooter were arrested and taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Two NYPD officers were taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens. It's not clear yet their conditions.

BREAKING: A DART police officer has been shot tonight at MLK Station in South Dallas, Texas.

Dallas Police says the officer was shot in the leg and is in stable condition.

More details will be provided as they become available.

On July 30 at around 8 p.m., Dallas Police responded to an officer-assist call in the 1400 block of South Trunk Avenue in South Dallas. The location is near Fair Park.

Officers determined suspects had been shooting at the location, and a DART Police officer was shot in the leg by a stray bullet near DART's MLK Jr. Station.

Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the officer to the hospital in stable condition.

No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.
