Canadian police say they seized 439 firearms, ammunition, an antique cannon and more than C$300,000 from a former member of Parliament now accused of firearms trafficking.

Those are serious allegations—and Canada already has laws allowing police to investigate and prosecute that conduct.

At the same time, licensed firearm owners who have not been accused of crimes are being ordered to surrender, export or permanently deactivate thousands of newly prohibited firearm models.

This case raises an unavoidable question: If authorities already have the power to target trafficking, why is the government also targeting lawful owners?

BREAKING: Rescue crews are searching for up to 10 people after a Kenmore Air plane went down north of Orcas Island, WA.

A Kenmore Air floatplane crashed in northern San Juan Islands with 11 people on board, according to the company and emergency responders.

A spokesperson for Kenmore Air said the flight departed Seattle’s Lake Union at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday and was headed to Roche Harbor on San Juan Island.

Kenmore Air said the aircraft was carrying 10 people. Earlier, Orcas Island Fire & Rescue said as many as 11 patients could be involved. Officials said those numbers remain preliminary.

A non-profit intended to help first responders injured in the line of duty is helping a Weld County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputy who was seriously injured in February.

The MC-1 Foundation is hosting a fund-raiser for Deputy Patrick Bailey, who was injured after a suspected drunk driver slammed into the back of his patrol vehicle after pulling over a vehicle on February 1 after midnight.

FOX31's Greg Nieto spoke with Deputy Patrick Bailey, who in February 2026, was struck and severely injured by a suspected drunk driver while doing a traffic stop.

Probation Check Leads to Narcotics Arrest

On Thursday afternoon, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Special Assignment Team (SAT) deputies contacted a probationer in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant on Pico Canyon Road in Newhall.

During the field investigation, the female adult was found to be in possession of cocaine. She was arrested on felony narcotics charges and for violating the terms of her probation.

Probation is a privilege, not a free pass. Those who choose to break the law will be held accountable.

Bear Break‑In!

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported break-in at a home in Roxborough. When they got there, they discovered two non-traditional suspects: two curious sibling bear cubs who had climbed through an open window to explore the house!

With help from Colorado Parks & Wildlife, the cubs were safely guided back outside without any injuries.

Please stay bear aware! Help prevent bear visits by securing trash, bringing in bird feeders, keeping pet food indoors, and locking lower‑level doors and windows.

UPDATE: Multiple people were injured, including one critically, after a seaplane with 11 people aboard, crashed off the coast of Washington state, according to the FAA and local authorities.

The FAA said the DeHavilland DHC-3 seaplane crashed near Sucia Island in Washington State. The San Juan County Sheriff's Office said everyone aboard the plane was rescued from the water.

DEVELOPING: A multi-state manhunt is still underway for a woman investigators describe as "highly dangerous and manipulative."

Authorities believe Florida murder suspect Isabelle Johnson may have cut and dyed her hair to disguise herself as she moves between states.

Johnson is accused of killing 43-year-old Jason Coulthart, whose body was found buried in a shallow grave on a Florida property on June 25 after he was last seen alive on May 24.

Newly released arrest reports allege a network of accomplices helped Johnson hide Coulthart's body and evade law enforcement. Investigators have also released new images of her tattoos, hoping the distinctive markings will help the public identify her.

On 7/6/26, TxDPS K-9 Bona tracked for more than 5 miles, helping locate a confirmed MS-13 gang member who was attempting to evade capture in Uvalde County.

While assisting the U.S. Border Patrol, K-9 Bona and her handler tracked down Bryan Oswaldo Bustillo Mejía, a criminal illegal immigrant from El Salvador and a confirmed MS-13 gang member.
