NEW: Video shows Boston police officers injured by fireworks as first responders managed multiple shooting scenes and large crowds during a chaotic Independence Day.
Boston Police responded to five separate shootings, with most of the incidents occurring in Roxbury, the department said. The victims have not yet been identified.
Officers were also injured by fireworks during the overnight response, Police Commissioner Michael Cox said at a press conference Sunday to address the violence.
In a video obtained by the Police Frequency, officers are responding to a large and loud crowd, when a firework gets tossed right next to an officer. The firework explodes, someone screams, and people can be seen lying on the ground after the light flashes and the smoke clears.
