We are aware of the video circulating on social media regarding an officer and interaction with members from a soccer team.

The Dallas Police Department responded to an area hotel at the request of hotel security regarding an individual without event credentials attempting to gain access. It was later learned that the individuals weren’t displaying credentials properly which is a requirement. 

The situation was resolved on scene, and DPD met with representatives of the team to address their concerns. The matter has since been resolved.

A Spokane man was sentenced to 21 years in prison after pleading guilty in the case involving a violent attack on his father.

Court documents say he admitted to using methamphetamine and being in opioid withdrawal at the time.

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Fire Apparatus Engineer Branden Counterman.

Branden proudly served his country in the United States Navy before beginning a distinguished career with CAL FIRE. During his career, he served in both the Riverside and San Diego Units, earning the respect and friendship of countless coworkers through his dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the job. He medically retired in 2024 as a Fire Apparatus Engineer in the Riverside Unit.
Branden will be remembered not only for his service to our communities, but also for the kindness, humor, and friendship he shared with those around him. His passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of his family, friends, and the many members of the CAL FIRE family who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

UPDATE: We're told the two officers were chasing a thug with a gun.

The thug fired at CPD. One officer was struck in the arm; the second officer was hit in the vest.

Both CPD were taken to U of C Hospital. Officer who was shot in the arm and had a successful surgery. Officer who was shot in the vest and in hospital for injuries sustained from the force of the round.

Thug was shot and thug's gun was recovered.

No word on the thug's condition, nor do we care.

Colonel Mark B. Hall regrets to announce the unexpected death of Sgt. Brian J. Ross, a 19-year veteran of the New Hampshire State Police.

Sgt. Ross began his career as a patrol Trooper in Troop A and went on to fulfill a variety of entrusted roles, including assignments with the Major Crime Unit, the Special Events Response Team and the Motorcycle Unit. In recent years, he served as the Commander of the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (C.A.R.) Unit.
