NEW: A Lexington restaurant will host a fundraiser on Thursday, July 2, for a police officer who was recently severely injured during a traffic stop.

Lee’s Famous Chicken at 3014 Richmond Road will donate 20% of its Thursday sales to officer Kevin Van Wert’s family for medical expenses and other needs. Lexington police said people should say “support for the Lexington officer” at checkout.

“We want to thank them for their continued support,” Lexington police said in a Facebook post. “It means so much to us that we have a caring and supportive community.”

Taylorville police are working to raise money for an officer who was seriously injured in a recent accident.

The Taylorville Illinois Police Department shared in a Facebook post Tuesday that Detective Nick Todd suffered severe burns to his face and body during an off-duty accident.

It was first reported at 1:10 p.m. on the eastbound side, just past the 134 Freeway.

Police say a diabetic amputee was tied to a wheelchair and left near an Arizona canal in 105-degree heat.

NEW: Man threatening to blow up check-cashing store walks out empty-handed despite bomb threat.

A bomb threat at a Gwinnett County business led to an intense search in the air for an attempted armed robbery suspect.

Officers rushed to the scene on Wednesday when they got a call about a robbery in progress with a bomb.

From there, they turned to Air-1 above to find the man on the run, and police say the suspect gave them a lot of help finding him.
