POV: On our drive along Highway 1 near Hearst Castle in San Simeon, we were lucky enough to spot hundreds of zebras grazing on the hillsides! These zebras are descendants of animals from William Randolph Hearst’s private zoo and now roam freely across the ranchland.

Iowa’s new law removes the statewide annual bias-prevention training requirement for law enforcement officers while preserving annual de-escalation training.

NEW: USS Kearsarge anchors in New York Harbor this morning for America's 250th Anniversary🇺🇸

The ship will serve as centerpiece and reviewing platform for the naval review of warships entering the harbor over the July 4th weekend.

A US Coast Guard ship and German Navy frigate FGS Sachsen sail past the Kearsarge and up the Hudson River with the Brooklyn and Manhattan skyline behind them.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of retired Anaheim Police Chief John Welter, who passed away peacefully yesterday morning at the age of 77 following health complications.

Chief Welter served as the 32nd Chief of Police for the Anaheim Police Department from 2004 to 2013. During his tenure, he led with vision and a deep commitment to the department and the City of Anaheim.

A lifelong motorcycle officer at heart, he became the first Anaheim Police Chief to regularly patrol on a police motorcycle, demonstrating that leadership meant serving alongside those he led.

NEW: A Houston police officer was injured in a crash with another vehicle in northwest Houston overnight, and he's expected to recover, according to the Houston Police Department.

The officer was driving westbound on Clay Road, and a civilian was vehicle heading north on Gessner Road when the two collided in the intersection, Sgt. Barrow told OnScene TV. Police were investigating which driver had a green light and which had a red light, but early reporting indicated the civilian blew through a red light at a high rate of speed, he said.
The officer appears to have had the green light, Barrow added. He did not say when the crash occurred.

He said police detained and were evaluating the civilian for a possible DWI. Police have neither identified the driver nor announced any charges in the case.
