Yesterday, the Whittier Police Department held a retirement ceremony for Police Services Dog Nala.

PSD Nala joined the Whittier Police Department in July 2017, and was assigned to Handler Balzano with shared PSD development by Sergeant Silva.  In October of 2021, PSD Nala was assigned to Handler Salas. PSD Nala retires with a total of 3,662 training hours, 87 deployments, and 11 suspect locates.
 
PSD Nala has been a longstanding and valued member of this organization for almost 9 years. Thank you, PSD Nala, for your years of loyal service, unwavering dedication, and faithful partnership. Your impact on this department and community will always be remembered. Enjoy your well-deserved retirement. 🚔

NEW: Catawba County NC deputy injured in collision with 18-wheeler.

Super Ego tractor-trailer allegedly ran a red light and struck a deputy’s patrol SUV.

Deputy was injured and transported to a local hospital. His injuries are, thankfully, non-life threatening.

A woman pleaded for her life on a 911 call as she was allegedly being attacked by her boyfriend.

The alleged suspect, 35-year-old Kyle Sanchez, is accused in the tragic passing of 37-year-old Amanda Roark, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO).
