Rick Caruso: "As a former President of the Los Angeles Police Commission, I know firsthand that police accountability is essential. Officers must serve the public with professionalism, integrity, and respect, and they should be held accountable when they fall short. But what Los Angeles does not need is more political control over the LAPD by elected officials who have openly supported defunding the police, cutting public safety budgets, and weakening our criminal justice system. We already have civilian oversight through the Police Commissionβa system that has provided accountability while preserving the independence necessary for effective policing. Letβs focus on what works: holding officers accountable, supporting public safety, and ensuring the LAPD has the resources needed to keep our neighborhoods and families safe."

NEW: Police in Canada are warning of possible copycat attacks after three people died in a shootout in Montreal and the assailantβs lengthy manifesto, which called for βa new bloodlettingβ, was posted online by a far-right outlet.
The document contains many of the hallmark grievances of the βinvoluntary celibacyβ β or βincelβ β movement in addition racist and misogynistic conspiracy theories.
After the shooting, Canadaβs federal police sent a bulletin to police agencies across the country warning the gunmanβs manifesto was βallegedly encouraging citizens to shoot police officersβ. The alert called on police to βexercise extreme caution and remain highly vigilantβ.
The 104-page document, which was later posted in full by Rebel News (rebelne.ws/4eBYI9T), does not specifically mention targeting police, but blames feminism, liberalism and capitalism to explain the βsituation of terrible loneliness, isolation, and social degradationβ he believes men currently face.
The document also lists what the shooter claims are βvalid potential class A targetsβ, including large investment banks, powerful politicians, βinfluential Zionistsβ, corporate executives in private healthcare, companies involved in environmental destruction, plastic surgeons and cryptocurrency speculators. The manifesto also mentions targeting βthe headquarters of international pornography companiesβ.
It ends with the words: βBe unflinching, go forth, and KILL THEM ALL!β
Montreal police identified the slain officer as Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, 34, who had been with the force since 2021. The civilian, Michel Mizrahi, was identified as an Israeli citizen by Israelβs consulate in Montreal.

BREAKING: Rep. Espaillat concedes. Mamdani-backed socialists have officially gone 3/3 and won all of their respective Democratic primaries for U.S. House in New York tonight, Bill Melugin reports.
Their positions are some of the most extreme & far left Dems have seen:
Darializa Avila Chevalier (NY-13): Abolish prisons, abolish ICE, abolish borders, defund the police, and βall deportations are wrongβ, including for violent criminals. She has called the U.S. an βeffing disgraceβ, and said in a prior social media post βI forgot to get napkins so I just wiped my hand on the American flag behind me.β
Claire Valdez (NY-7): Grant citizenship and voting rights to illegal aliens, use taxpayer funds for all transgender treatments, & eliminate private health insurance.
Brad Lander (NY-10): Abolish ICE, forgive all student loans (almost $2 trillion worth), expand the Supreme Court.
Mamdani gets a clean sweep, a bad night for Hakeem Jeffries, and big questions for where the Democratic Party is heading.

Grand Rapids, Michigan β June 23, 2026 β The Grand Rapids Police Department issued a public statement addressing a video showing a use of force during a traffic stop that is circulating online.
βGRPD would like to address a video showing a use of force that is circulating online. As with so many videos of this type, everything that happened before the clip and everything that happened after are not shown, so viewers do not have the full context of the interaction,β the department stated. βDuring this traffic stop, the front seat passenger, an adult male, was not wearing a seatbelt, which is a legal and valid reason to ask for ID. The passenger refused. After multiple refusals, the passenger was ordered out of the car, which was again met with refusal and resistance. After several refusals to exit the vehicle and to identify himself, officers advised the passenger that he was under arrest and performed a trained extraction technique. The passenger continued to resist, bracing his feet against the floor and his hands against the ceiling of the vehicle. He continued to actively resist, bracing himself in the vehicle with his legs and pushing at officersβ hands as they attempted to extract him from the vehicle. Ultimately a palm heel strike was used, which caused the passenger to release the pressure holding him inside the vehicle. The force with which his body exited the vehicle injured an officer, who suffered a broken leg and potential ligament damage. The passenger was medically cleared before being lodged at KCCF. He has since been charged.β
Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for the officer's recoveryππ»

Good to see that Deputy Samuelson continues to make strides in his recovery, but he still has a long road ahead.
In an update posted Friday, Deputy Jon Samuelson underwent testing on his left arm.
Doctors believe a cluster of nerves were damaged from the shockwave from one of the bullets, and they are hopeful the nerves will recover over time.
Samuelson has been working extra hard in physical therapy, which has been focusing on getting his core strength back and motor skills in his hands.
He is reportedly still keeping up a positive attitude and has made many friends in group therapy sessions.
