With Fatherโs Day coming up tomorrow, we thought weโd introduce our amazing dadโdaughter duo, Stephen and Trinity Miller. Both serve as corrections deputies in our Court Services Unit, but their teamwork started long before they put on our uniform.
Stephen went from coaching Trinityโs little league team to a state championship, to showing her the ropes here at the Sheriffโs Office, after convincing her to serve the community right alongside him.
Trinity says the best part of working for our agency is getting to spend more time with her dad.
Weโre proud to have both Millers on our team, keeping our community safe together! โ

David Sacks just delivered an economics masterclass on Elon becoming the worldโs first trillionaire.
David Sacks: โPeople see the headline and imagine Elon suddenly has a trillion dollars in the bank. Thatโs not how it works. His balance sheet didnโt change overnight.โ
Why?
The real point is deeper. Wealth isnโt in the โstuffโ we consume. Food, shelter, clothes. Things that depreciate and disappear. Itโs in the machines that create stuff for decades: tools, workflows, and corporations.
These are the true engines of human progress.
โIf you create a machine that makes more stuff, then thereโs a discounted present value for all the stuff in the future that machine might create. Thatโs where the wealth comes from.โ
Elon started with nothing. An immigrant who slept on the floor building Zip2. He created these machines from vision and relentless effort. Thousands joined him, including a SpaceX welder who turned his labor into a million dollars in stock.
Thatโs the magic of tech and free markets: labor can become capital. Itโs fluid.
The outrage misses this entirely. The people building machines that deliver medicines, energy, and abundance are creating lasting prosperity for everyone.
What do you think? Does viewing wealth as future productivity change how you see stories like this?

California's Proposed "Billionaire Tax" makes ballot, but backers give Newsom an Ultimatum. It's official, a proposed one-time, 5% tax on the wealth of billionaires in the state of California has qualified for the November ballot, after backers submittedโฆ
NEWSOM AND BEHESTED PAYMENTS
According to reporting published June 18, 2026, charitable contributions made at the request of California elected officials totaled approximately $555.9 million over the past 15 years.
The report found that contributions requested by Gov. Gavin Newsom totaled about $347.2 million โ more than 62% of all reported behested payments during that period.
The article also reported that approximately $4.3 million of those contributions went to the California Partners Project, a nonprofit associated with First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom.
Behested payments are legal under California law when properly disclosed, though critics argue they can create the appearance of influence while supporters say they help direct funding to charitable causes.
What do you think? Should California reform its behested payment system?

Deputy breaks window to rescue toddler left in car while parents shopped in Vancouver, Washington.
Deputies are warning about the dangers of leaving children and pets in hot cars after a 2-year-old was rescued in Vancouver.
Deputies responded to a call in May after witnesses reported a child who was left inside a parked car.
People nearby quickly stepped in, gathering around the car and trying to create a shade while waiting for help.
A Clark County deputy arrived to find the child strapped into a car seat. Deputies say the engine was off, and only a small rear window was cracked open.
The National Weather Service says that the temperature inside a car can rise 20 degrees in as little as 10 minutes.
It was 92 degrees outside that day, and the toddler was in the car for at least 16 minutes, officials said.
