NEW: ICE Los Angeles arrested 63-year-old Julian Arellano-Olivas from Mexico. Arellano was sentenced to more than 6 years for possession and sale of narcotics and marijuana. Arellano’s previously issued order of removal was reinstated, and he will remain in ICE custody until removal.

A California man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole after being convicted in a case involving his father.

On June 16, at the direction of SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations. One male narco-terrorists was killed during this action, and there were two male survivors.  Following the engagement, USSOUTHCOM immediately notified U.S. Coast Guard to activate the Search and Rescue system for the survivors. No U.S. military forces were harmed.

NEW: More than 300 residents packed a Pittsburg City CA Council meeting to oppose a proposed data center project, raising concerns about noise, air quality, water usage, diesel backup generators, traffic, and its proximity to homes, schools, and parks.

Many residents said they were unaware the project had already been approved in 2024 and are now calling on city leaders to reconsider. A petition opposing the project has already gathered more than 13,000 signatures.

City officials say the data center would bring millions in tax revenue to help fund road improvements, youth sports facilities, and other community programs. The council said it will continue reviewing public concerns but has not announced any changes to the project.

WATCH: Coast Guard stops runaway boat after operator falls overboard in Maryland.

Video shows the U.S. Coast Guard intercepting and stopping an unmanned vessel after its operator reportedly fell overboard in Maryland waters. The incident has renewed calls for boaters to wear engine cut-off switch lanyards, which can automatically shut down a vessel if the driver is ejected. Federal law requires operators of certain recreational boats under 26 feet to use the safety device while underway.

NEW: Indiana State Trooper Injured After Being Struck Along US 41

Knox County, IN – On June 16, 2026, at approximately 6:13 p.m., Master Trooper Brett Pool was on US 41 near Decker when he and his fully marked Indiana State Police Commission were struck by a northbound SUV.

The vehicle was being driven by Anna Elkins, 33, of Vincennes. At the time of the crash, Trooper Pool was standing outside of his patrol vehicle. Elkins did not report any injuries as a result of the crash.

Trooper Pool was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for his recovery🙏🏽

Praying for the San Antonio SWAT officer who was shot in the line of duty this afternoon🙏🏽

SAPD Chief William McManus says one of his SWAT officers was shot in the leg while serving felony warrant Tuesday, officers returned fire and hit suspect more than once but neither have life threatening wounds. This was at the Santa Fe Apartments and Condos along Jones Maltsberger near Starcrest on the North Side.

Californians were fed up with retail theft and passed Prop 36 in all 58 counties with nearly 70% voter approval.

Instead of fully funding and implementing what voters demanded, state legislators drafted AB 2108 and created yet another diversion program: this time for retail theft offenders.

Like mental health diversion, it offers another way to avoid jail time. Offenders even walk away without a conviction on their record. Even more surprising is that some of California’s largest retailers, along with the California Retailers Association, support the bill despite reporting billions of dollars in losses due to retail theft.

Voters wanted meaningful consequences for retail theft offenders, but the state legislature moved in the opposite direction.
