One person was killed and three others were injured in a shooting after a graduation ceremony at Fairfield High School on Wednesday, according to police. The ceremony was for Sem Yeto High School, a continuation school which shares a campus with Fairfield High.

NEW: Distracted driving is believed to be the cause of an accident that resulted in a Terre Haute Indiana Police Officer being injured.
According to the Terre Haute Police Department, the officer was injured after a distracted driver turned in front of the officer, who was in his patrol vehicle. At the time of the crash, the THPD officer was on routine patrol.
THPD reports that at “approximately 11:00 p.m. on June 3, 2026, a Terre Haute Police Department officer was traveling northbound on 13th Street through the intersection at Wabash Avenue when a vehicle turned in front of the patrol vehicle, failing to yield the right-of-way and causing a collision.”
The THPD officer sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The officer was later treated and released. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for his recovery🙏🏻

This week, Air Interdiction Agents located a vessel carrying 240 migrants from Haiti attempting an illegal maritime migration. The overcrowded vessel was taking on water and in danger of sinking.
Our personnel helped prevent what could have been a catastrophic loss of life while stopping yet another illegal migration attempt.
The message remains clear: illegal maritime migration is dangerous, it is not worth the risk, and you will not gain entry into the US.

NEW: A train struck a semi-truck in eastern Iowa, killing one person and injuring another.
The crash occurred at the crossing of a state highway and the Iowa Interstate Railroad in a rural area about 70 miles (113 kilometers) east of Des Moines, according to Poweshiek County Sheriff Matt Maschmann.
One person in the semi-truck died and another was transported with “serious injuries,” Maschmann said in a statement.
Seventeen train cars and two power engines derailed after the crash and caused “significant damage” to the railroad, he said. Images of the scene showed a massive heap of railcars with billowing smoke.
No hazardous material was spilled, according to Iowa State Patrol spokesman Sgt. Alex Dinkla.

Having grown up in Fairfield, Joe wore the uniform with great pride and remained deeply connected to the town he called home. His years of service reflect a lasting dedication to public service and to helping others.
Beyond his work with our department, Joe was known as a devoted family man who generously gave his time as a coach, mentor, and supporter of youth sports, always encouraging those around him.

NYC: Manhattan, Essex Street & Rivington Street, a yellow cab driver got impatient behind slow-moving traffic, and paid for it.
Dash cam footage shows a city bus and a black SUV moving slowly ahead of the cab. The driver ran out of patience and tried to squeeze past the SUV to get around the bus.
The move went wrong fast, the taxi slammed into the rear of the bus and collided with the SUV at the same time.
The front end of the cab was destroyed. A passenger inside was injured and transported to a local hospital.
