Today, we honor and remember K-9 Knight.
A 5-year-old German Shepherd/Malinois mix from Slovakia, Knight faithfully served alongside his handler, Cpl. John Walsh, for the past four years. Together, they formed an unbreakable bond built on trust, loyalty and a shared commitment to protecting our community.
Throughout his career, Knight assisted in numerous operations involving tracking and apprehension, helping officers safely carry out their mission and return home to their families.
Knight was named after the knights of old who lived by a code: protecting others through honor and bravery. He embodied that spirit every day he wore the badge.
A K-9 patrol vehicle will be parked in front of our building, and members of the community are welcome to leave flowers in honor of Knightβs memory.
Knightβs legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the officers he served beside and the community he helped protect.
Knight is survived by his handler, Cpl. John Walsh, his family, and the many members of our department who were fortunate enough to know and work alongside him.
Thank you for your service, Knight. We will never forget your sacrifice.
