It is with profound sadness that the Santa Clara County Fire Department and Santa Clara County Firefighters, Local 1165, share the passing of one of their own.

Battalion Chief Monique Vandenberg, 58, passed away on April 30, 2026, from job-related cancer after more than two decades of dedicated service. Her sacrifice and legacy will never be forgotten by her family, her fire service family, and the community she faithfully served.

Rest Easy Sister. Prayers for her family of red and blood. πŸ™πŸ»

A DTLA reminder.  If you see graffiti on the walls, please take a moment and visit MyLA311 and report it.  Several reports have been received regarding the amount of graffiti on Alameda between Arcadia and Temple.  City Workers will be out soon to clean and remove the graffiti.  It doesn’t matter if they’re in a police uniform, plain clothes or City Employee uniforms, we are all in this together to keep our City clean.

Today, our thoughts and prayers are with the Chesterfield County Police, the two officers who were shot in the line of duty yesterday, their families, fellow first responders, and loved ones.πŸ™πŸ» WATCH: Chesterfield police are holding a news conference after…
Today, we honor and remember K-9 Knight.

A 5-year-old German Shepherd/Malinois mix from Slovakia, Knight faithfully served alongside his handler, Cpl. John Walsh, for the past four years. Together, they formed an unbreakable bond built on trust, loyalty and a shared commitment to protecting our community.

Throughout his career, Knight assisted in numerous operations involving tracking and apprehension, helping officers safely carry out their mission and return home to their families.

Knight was named after the knights of old who lived by a code: protecting others through honor and bravery. He embodied that spirit every day he wore the badge.

A K-9 patrol vehicle will be parked in front of our building, and members of the community are welcome to leave flowers in honor of Knight’s memory.

Knight’s legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the officers he served beside and the community he helped protect.

Knight is survived by his handler, Cpl. John Walsh, his family, and the many members of our department who were fortunate enough to know and work alongside him.

Thank you for your service, Knight. We will never forget your sacrifice.

End of Watch: May 31, 2026

Rest In Peace, HeroπŸ’™πŸ–€

DRONE SUCCESS STORY!

On May 12, 2026, LVMPD Dispatch received reports of a fight involving multiple individuals in the 3800 block of East Flamingo Road. Officers and an LVMPD drone were quickly assigned to the call to help locate the individuals involved.

The drone successfully located the subjects and provided real-time information to responding officers. With assistance from the drone unit, officers safely arrived on scene and apprehended those involved in the incident.

This is another great example of how technology helps officers respond quickly, efficiently, and safely while supporting public safety throughout our community.
