NEW: A South Jersey carnival has been canceled after a police officer was injured when several fights broke out Wednesday night, officials said. 
Burlington County officials said Thursday the remaining dates of the Roebling Carnival in Florence Township will be canceled after people became unruly, which led to several arrests.
Wednesday was the first night of the carnival, and it was scheduled to go through Saturday.
Five people were arrested, including four teenagers, officials said.

BREAKING: candidate for LA mayor Spencer Pratt now leads the field with 30.1% support, compared with 29.5% for incumbent Karen Bass, setting up a razor-thin race heading into Tuesday primary, Jeff Vaughn reports.

The CaliforniaPost poll was done by McLaughlin & Associates and shows councilwoman Nithya Raman at 23.4% support.

The poll found 62% of likely voters believe the city is on the wrong track.

NEW: Officers with the New Orleans Police Department are responding to an individual who is barricaded in the Hale Boggs Federal Building on the evening of Friday, May 29.

According to the NOPD, officers received a call of a subject at 5:53 p.m. reportedly trespassing inside of the federal courthouse located in the 500 block of Poydras.

As news broke of the shooting of LaPorte County Deputy Jon Samuelson at Franciscan Hospital, prayers were already being offered at the scene and beyond.

The community, including his family, came together this week to pray a Holy Hour for Deputy Samuelson's healing.

Deputy Samuelson, a Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus, was able to join in the Holy Hour from his hospital room via livestream.

NEW: The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office says one of their deputies was injured following an overnight crash.

At about 2 a.m, the constable's office shared images of the wreck on social media, saying the Pct. 4 deputy's patrol vehicle was hit by another vehicle in the 17400 block of the North Freeway.
The deputy, officials said, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is OK.

Please, praying for the Corpus Christi police officer who was shot in the line of duty this afternoon.🙏🏻

Corpus Christi Texas police are currently working two major scenes across the city Friday evening.

A fatal multi-vehicle crash has shut down southbound IH-37 near Lantana Street. Police and forensic investigators remain at the scene as they work to determine what happened. Authorities have not yet released how many people were involved or the identity of the victim.

In a separate incident, a Corpus Christi police officer was shot while responding to a suspicious activity call on Airline Road shortly after 4 p.m. The officer was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive. Police say a suspect is already in custody.
