BREAKING: Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) commuted the sentence of Tina Peters on Friday afternoon.

"The former Republican Mesa County Clerk was serving a nearly nine-year sentence for her role in allowing unauthorized access to her county's election equipment in an attempt to uncover election fraud.

Polis commuted her sentence to four-and-a-half years and said she would be eligible for parole next month. Before Polis' commutation, Peters' earliest parole date would have been March 2028."

NEW: An Iraqi national and senior member of a U.S.-designated terror organization was arrested and brought to New York to face trial on federal terrorism charges.

Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood al-Saadi is accused of coordinating nearly 20 terror attacks in Europe and plotting additional attacks on U.S. soil.

The suspect is accused of directing strikes on behalf of Iran-backed Islamist group Ashab al-Yamin since March.

The FBI said it took action after learning that al-Saadi was planning to expand Ashab al-Yaminโ€™s operations to the U.S., allegedly directing individuals to coordinate American terror attacks against synagogues and other Jewish institutions across the country.

On 5/08/26, as part of Operation Lone Star, TxDPS K-9 Bona and her handler assisted the U.S. Border Patrol in tracking a group of illegal immigrants through rugged terrain across Maverick and Uvalde counties.

During the operation, K-9 Bona tracked for nearly 10 miles, ultimately helping locate seven illegal immigrants in total. One illegal immigrant was found hiding in a corn field attempting to avoid apprehension.

This highlights the endurance, training, and determination of our DPS tracking canines and their handlers as they work alongside our federal partners to prevent gotaways and protect public safety.
