WATCH: VCFD Boat 15 responded to a fire onboard a non-operational natural gas platform offshore of Santa Barbara yesterday, as part of a regional mutual-aid response.
The incident was managed under the command of the U.S. Coast Guard, Santa Barbara County Fire Department and VCFD was proud to support the response alongside our regional partner agencies.
The continued Ocean Operational Area collaboration through the USCG Area Maritime Security Committee, USCG Area Contingency Planning Regions 4 & 5, and the Sector LA/LB Marine Firefighting Contingency Planning played a key role for this successful and well coordinated response. This incident utilized a marine firefighting and response strategy that paralleled wildland Air Operations branch management with strategies and tactics adapted for the marine environment, including the use of a vessel coordinator and vessel support group supervision.
While wildfire mutual aid often sends our firefighters across California, this incident highlighted the important role of regional cooperation closer to home โ including fire suppression and emergency response operations in the coastal waters surrounding Ventura County.
These responses reflect the strength of the mutual-aid system and the commitment of agencies working together to protect our communities by land, sea, and air.

โFor all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.โ

BREAKING: The South Carolina Supreme Court is overturning the murder conviction of Alex Murdaugh in a unanimous decision.
Murdaugh was convicted in March 2023 of double homicide of his wife and son.
The court is ordering a new trial, saying that Mary Rebecca Hill, who served as the court clerk in Colleton County, showed "improper external influences" during Murdaugh's first trial.
A post-trial court found that Hill "made improper comments to the jurors on the day Murdaugh testifiedโ and instructed them to watch Murdaugh's body language.

BREAKING: LA Police Commissioner Teresa Sรกnchez-Gordon just resigned from the civilian oversight board because of credible threats against her and her family.
She said it plainly: โI have to focus on my girls and their security.โ
When the people who oversee the LAPD no longer feel safe doing their job, your city has a serious problem. This isnโt โactivismโ or โprotestโ โ itโs straight-up intimidation that forces public servants to choose between their duty and their childrenโs safety.
Mayor Bass called it โappallingโ and ordered an investigation. Good. But investigations donโt protect families. Real leadership does.
Los Angeles: this is what happens when threats replace accountability. Enough.

JUST IN: Tensions flare between the CIA and Sen. Rand Paul over a COVID-19 whistleblower hearing.
The agency is reportedly โnot happy,โ accusing Paul of acting in bad faith as he pushes forward with testimony tied to the virusโs origins.
Paul fires back, telling Bill Melugin the CIA needs to โobey the lawโ after Congress passed a measure to declassify COVID intelligenceโarguing thereโs no reason for continued secrecy.
