On 4/30/26, a TxDPS Trooper attempted to stop a human smuggler in Laredo as part of Operation Lone Star. The driver refused to stop, leading to a high-speed pursuit. The Trooper safely performed a PIT maneuver, ending the pursuit.

The driver then bailed out and attempted to flee on foot, but was no match for the Trooper's determination and physical endurance. After climbing a fence while trying to escape, the suspect was tased and taken into custody.

The driver, Samuel Infante of Laredo, was arrested and charged with six counts of smuggling of persons.

Six illegal immigrants were turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol.

Operation Lone Star continues to target human smugglers and protect Texas communities through proactive enforcement and strong state and federal partnerships.
