GREAT SAVE. Cicero Police Department Indiana received reports of an injured bald eagle near 236th and US 31, responding officers initially couldn’t locate the majestic bird. But thanks to Officer Barker’s determination, persistence, and dedication, the injured eagle was found, safely rescued, and brought to safety. The eagle was transported to the Cicero Police Department, where Indiana DNR Division of Fish and Wildlife coordinated its transfer to Providence Wildlife Rehabilitation for much-needed care and recovery. A huge thank you also goes out to the concerned citizen who made the call, without that quick action, this national symbol may not have survived. This is an incredible reminder that law enforcement serves in so many ways, protecting not just people, but wildlife too. Prayers for a full recovery for this beautiful eagle! Great job to everyone involved.

A Greenbrier police officer who was injured in an on-duty crash early Friday morning has been identified and diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Matthew Hillis suffered a seizure after the crash that was caused by a previously unknown brain tumor diagnosed after the crash occurred, according to authorities.
Hillis now faces a substantial course of medical treatment over the coming weeks and months with the support of his family, friends and fellow officers.
The Greenbrier Police Department characterized Hillis as a valued member and said the department stands beside him and his family.
The department requested community support through thoughts and prayers for Hillis and his family during the treatment period.🙏🏻

At approximately 8:20 p.m., Paterson Police were alerted after a ShotSpotter device activated near the 230 block of Rosa Parks Boulevard.
Responding officers arrived and discovered as many as seven victims suffering from gunshot wounds in the area.
All injured individuals were transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment. At least one victim reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries and is not expected to survive.
