It was our honor to welcome the Law Enforcement United bicyclists from across the United States who stopped at the Frank Bland Regional Training Center on Wednesday, May 6, as part of their divisional ride.

These dedicated men and women pedal more than 800 miles over eight days, beginning in San Francisco and ending in Southern California. Along the route, they place 62 memorial wreaths in honor of fallen heroes, staying true to their mission of honoring the fallen and remembering the survivors.

After completing the western portion of their journey, members of LEU join fellow riders on the East Coast to complete an additional 200 miles, ultimately coming together in Washington, D.C. during National Police Week.

Thank you for taking the time to honor those we have lost and for allowing us to be a part of your meaningful mission.

Sheriff Shannon Dicus

NEW: An Anne Arundel County Police officer and a woman suspected in a reported carjacking were injured Thursday night after officers opened fire when the suspect allegedly drove toward officers in Severn, police said.

Northern District officers responded around 9 p.m. to a reported carjacking near Crane Highway North and 11th Avenue, according to Anne Arundel County Police. The carjacking occurred after the woman crashed her vehicle into another vehicle, according to a police news release. She then forcibly took the vehicle of a family member responding to the scene to assist her, the release said.

When police attempted to stop the car, they said the woman drove toward them, hitting an officer, two patrol cars and another vehicle. The officer who was struck by the car was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries and has since been released, police said.

🦎While not quite the size of a rogue gator, this tiny suspect still managed to cause a major disruption at Bradenton Bay High School this week. Witnesses say the reptilian runaway was darting through the halls, refusing lawful commands to stop. Fortunately, Officer Watton stepped in and safely took the slippery suspect into custody. He was given a trespass warning. A+!🦎

Florida: At approximately 8:04 pm on Friday, May 8, 2026, the Polk County Sheriff's Office was notified of a plane crash west of Mulberry.

When units arrived, they found the pilot to be uninjured. He was the only person involved.

The plane is a 1-seat, fixed wing plane.

It took off from South Lakeland Airport in Mulberry.

Soon after takeoff, the plane experienced engine trouble.

The pilot found a grassy area not far from the airport near SR60 and County Line Road where he could land the plane.

After touching down, while slowing to a stop, the plane flipped onto its top.

PCSO units are notifying the necessary agencies.
