โ€œAnd beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.โ€

Today marks two years since the tragic events of April 29, 2024โ€”a day that forever changed our department and the Charlotte community.

As we pause to reflect, we remember the unwavering bravery of every officer who responded that day, our public safety partners who stood by us and the community that came together to support CMPD and our law enforcement partners like never before.

But most importantly, today and every day, we honor the fallen heroes: CMPD Officer Joshua Eyer, Deputy U.S. Marshal Thomas Weeks and N.C. Department of Adult Correction Investigators William Elliott and Samuel Poloche. Their bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Trumpโ€™s defiance of assassins shows why heโ€™s so exceptional a history-maker

President Trump isnโ€™t a former general or wizened old Indian fighter like Jackson, but he partakes of the same spirit of aggressive defiance.
By all appearances, the two least fearful people in the ballroom of the White House Correspondentsโ€™ Dinner were an older gentleman from New York who kept eating his salad during the mayhem โ€ฆ and the target of the attack himself.

Trump is one of the most indomitable figures in the history of our politics.

WATCH: California Governor candidate Chad Bianco explains nonprofits are being by developers to get rid of buildings they canโ€™t sell

Just one example

- Developers have properties nobody will buy for $3 million
- A nonprofit is given $10 million to spend on homelessness
- The nonprofit is friends with the developer and buys the property for $6 million

So the homeless nonprofit has $4 million on taxpayer money they got for free and no owns a building they can sell for millions

That developer friend made $6 million on a property that was essentially worthless because no one would buy it

Both are rich and taxpayers paid for it al. Itโ€™s one big taxpayer money laundering scheme

Chad Bianco says this is whatโ€™s happening on repeat in California

He says they go even further and give their family members $500,000 per year jobs at the nonprofits

In Memory of Deputy David March
EOW: April 29, 2002

On the morning of April 29, 2002, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Temple Station Deputy David March stopped a vehicle on Live Oak Avenue just east of Peck Road in Irwindale for an apparent traffic violation. Unknown to Deputy March, the vehicle was recently stolen. The driver exited the vehicle and approached Deputy March as he made his way toward the car. Halfway between the vehicles the suspect withdrew a handgun and shot March several times before he could draw his own weapon. The shooter then jumped back in the car and fled.

An engineer at a nearby concrete plant said he heard five gunshots. He ran out onto the street and saw Deputy March stretched out on the pavement with his head resting against the curb. A truck driver at the plant ran to Marchโ€™s vehicle, got on the radio and announced, โ€œA deputyโ€™s been shot!โ€ According to the first witness, one of the first officers on the scene gave Deputy March mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, but it was clearly no use and he got up and kicked his car in frustration.

Deputy Marchโ€™s killer was quickly identified but fled to Mexico. In February 2006, he was arrested and returned to the United States. In March 2007, he pled guilty to second-degree murder and received a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Deputy Dave March, 33, a seven-year veteran of the Sheriffโ€™s Department at the time of his murder, was survived by his wife, Teri, and 12-year-old step-daughter, Kayla.

The week before his death, Dave wrote the following in an email in response to a request for input on his annual evaluation, "My goals are simple, I will always be painfully honest, work as hard as I can, learn as much as I can and hopefully make a difference in people's lives." This statement has gone on to become the creed of the Los Angeles Sheriffโ€™s Department.

Every year on the anniversary of Deputy Marchโ€™s death, deputies from Temple Sheriffโ€™s Station stand a twenty-four-hour vigil at the memorial in Irwindale where he was slain.

RISING GAS PRICES โ›ฝ๏ธ: Gas prices are spiking across Metro Detroit, with several stations now topping $5 a gallon. In some locations across metro Detroit, prices have reached $5.39, while many others are climbing past $4.50., MDN reports.

Analysts say the jump is tied to refinery issues in the Midwest that are limiting supply, along with rising oil prices linked to tensions involving Iran, the US, and the Strait of Hormuz.

Those pressures have pushed wholesale gas prices up sharply in recent weeks, and experts warn another increase is possible.

CORRECTION!

I want to correct an earlier post and thank the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for the clarification: Jorge Tinoco is not being considered for release under the elderly parole program.

He is actually up for release under Californiaโ€™s youth offender parole process, expanded following Proposition 57. Because he was 25 years old at the time he committed this crime, he qualifies.

But does it really matter? Both laws are the same in legislative intent. Picking the winners and losers of violent and sexual criminal acts. Clearly, the standards set in the last decade have picked child molesters and rapists as the winners, and, like in this case, 5-year-old girls as the losers.

While the public is told these policies are about rehabilitation and fairness, whatโ€™s actually happening is a steady expansion of complicated, technical legal pathways that allow violent offenders, including sexually violent predators like Jorge Tinoco, to work their way back into our neighborhoods.

Call it โ€œyouth offender,โ€ call it โ€œearly review,โ€ call it whatever sounds best on paper. The end result is the same. Someone capable of committing a horrific crime is being given another opportunity at early release.

This isnโ€™t an isolated situation; itโ€™s a pattern. A system that continues to redefine eligibility, stretch intent, and reopen cases victims were led to believe were settled.

As your Sheriff, I consider it my duty and obligation to inform my constituents about these public safety failures. I will continue to do so. However, itโ€™s important for you to know these reckless early release laws cannot be reversed by the Legislature. They must be changed at the ballot box.

Last night, our HCSO Traffic Crimes Unitโ€”working alongside a TxDPS trooperโ€”stopped five individuals engaged in illegal street racing and made arrests.

Reckless driving isnโ€™t just dangerousโ€”itโ€™s a threat to everyone on the road. These arenโ€™t empty streets.

We will continue to take action against this behavior. Slow down, make responsible choices, and help us keep our roadways safe.
