WATCH: Department of Justice holds press conference.
Acting AG Todd Blanche reads the charges against James Comey.
"The first count is that on or about May 15th of last year, he knowingly and willfully making a threat to take the life of and to inflict bodily harm upon the president of the United States."
"Count two: Same day, May 15th, 2025, that the defendant, James Comey, knowingly and willfully transmitting an interstate commerce communication that contained a threat to kill the president of the United States."
"Both of these counts carry a maximum term of imprisonment of ten years."
REPORTER: "Director Comey posted this almost a year ago. Why bring this case now?"
ACTING AG BLANCHE: "This investigation just didn't come now. It's the result of a lot of work by law enforcement over the past year."
"We don't time when we bring cases around anything other than when the investigation is at a place where we should go to the grand jury."
ACTING AG BLANCHE: "I think it's fair to say that threatening the life of anybody is dangerous and potentially a crime; threatening the life of the president of the United States will never be tolerated."

JUST IN: Former FBI Director James Comey releases new video.
"Well, they're back. This time about a picture of seashells on a North Carolina beach a year ago, and this won't be the end of it. But nothing has changed with me.
I'm still innocent, I'm still not afraid, and I still believe in the independent federal judiciary, so let's go. But it's really important that all of us remember this is not who we are as a country. This is not how the Department of Justice is supposed to be.
And the good news is we get closer every day to restoring those values. Keep the faith."

New York: A late-afternoon dog attack in Geneva left a resident seriously injured and a police officer hurt while responding.
Police say the incident unfolded around 4:45 p.m. Monday on Austin Place, where officers were dispatched for a reported dog attack and quickly encountered a chaotic and dangerous situation.
When officers arrived, they found a city resident suffering from multiple bite wounds to the lower body. Police immediately applied a tourniquet to control bleeding before emergency medical transport was arranged. While assisting the victim, officers came into contact with a medium-sized pit bull that then bit one of the responding officers.
The injured resident was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with severe but non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. The officer was treated at Geneva General Hospital and later released.
