Praying for the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy who was shot in the line of duty this afternoon🙏🏻

South Carolina: A suspect is dead and a deputy is facing life-threatening injuries after a traffic stop on Interstate 85 in South Carolina on Monday, April 20, according to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office.

According to a press release from the sheriff's office, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a Dodge Challenger and were interviewing the driver. A deputy requested additional assistance, so a second deputy arrived on the scene shortly after.

During the traffic stop, the suspect got a firearm from the vehicle and fired at least one shot, hitting the second deputy, the sheriff's office said. The deputy who initiated the stop fired back.

The sheriff's office said the deputy who was shot was "immediately" airlifted to Greenville Memorial.
The Anderson County Coroner confirmed that the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the press release.

A dark patch in Mars' Utopia Planitia region has grown significantly since it was first photographed in 1976. Scientists have a loose understanding of what it is, but they can't properly explain its gradual growth.

A massive dark patch lurking within a giant Martian crater has been creeping across the Red Planet's surface since the feature was first spotted 50 years ago, new photos reveal — and scientists are unsure exactly why this is happening.

The shadowy structure is a patch of ground covered with ash and volcanic rocks, such as olivine and pyroxene, from ancient eruptions that occurred millions of years ago, before Mars was considered geologically dead. It is located in Utopia Planitia, a roughly 2,000-mile-wide (3,300 kilometers) plain in Mars' northern hemisphere.

NASA's Viking probes first photographed the blackened ground in 1976, shortly after arriving at the Red Planet. Since then, several photos have shown that this feature is expanding across the surrounding landscape.

The Prescott Valley Police Department in Arizona, is mourning the sudden loss of K9 Mac, who passed away unexpectedly in his sleep over the weekend.

Mac joined PVPD in September 2024 and was certified by the National Police Canine Association just three months later. At only 2½ years old, he was trained in narcotics detection and patrol apprehension.

In his short but impactful service, K9 Mac was deployed 45 times, helping seize approximately 14 pounds of fentanyl, five pounds of methamphetamine, cocaine, and multiple firearms tied to drug arrests. He also assisted on numerous patrol and SWAT operations.

Our Condolences to his handler, Officer Justin Ellison, his family, and the entire PVPD K9 Unit.

K-9 Shot While Chasing Burglary Suspect

Fort Lauderdale Police Department, Florida said on Saturday night after a burglary suspect tried to flee and shot a police K-9. Officers responded to a home and quickly set up a perimeter with help from aviation units. When the suspect ran, a K-9 was deployed to stop him but the suspect opened fire, striking the dog.

The good news: the K-9 was rushed to a vet and is expected to recover.

SWAT teams later located the suspect, who is now in custody. Prayers up for a speedy recovery for this brave K-9 officer.🐾
