We are heartbroken to share the tragic loss of another member of our High Point Police Department, NC family. Drake Shinabarger, a 28-year-old police recruit, died unexpectedly over the weekend. He was set to graduate from Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) in June.
Shinabarger was passionate about serving others. He joined the police department last summer after serving a few years with the High Point Fire Department. He also served in the National Guard, the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserve.
While his time with our department was brief, his impact was lasting. He was a leader among his recruit class, a friend to our future officers, a strong advocate for our department's wellness program, and someone you could always count on for a smile or laugh.
Rest Easy Brother. Prayers for his family of blue and blood.ππ»

California has created the βStop Nick Shirley Actβ that would criminalize investigative journalism. So instead of going after the fraudsters California is now going after the people exposing the fraud.
This bill AB 2624 will:
- Criminalize journalists with misdemeanors, $10,000 fines, imprisonment, and content takedown
- Let immigrant based NGOsβ funding be confidential
- Take away freedom of the press from journalists
- Protect any βimmigration support servicesβ information from being public (healthcare, legal services, etc)
This bill was created by the Attorney Generalβs WIFE Mia Bonta to stop fraud from being exposed. By trying to silence and intimidate journalists, they are trying to hide the truth from you. EXPOSE ALL THE FRAUD.

Ignoring Venice residentsβ pleas for help, Councilmember Nithya Raman voted to prevent a dangerous encampment from being taken down. She also ignored the work that Councilmember Park did, in partnership with residents, to ensure that all camp occupants were offered shelter and services. Raman makes it clear that the safety of our schools, our parks, and our neighborhoods comes second to her political agenda.

Harold Ronald "Ronnie" Flournoy
12/22/1959 - 04/13/2026
Harold Ronald βRonnieβ Flournoy, 66, of Opelika, Alabama, passed away on April 13, 2026.
Born on December 22, 1959, in Ft. McClellan, Alabama, Ronnie lived a life defined by service, loyalty, humor, and a deep love for the people around him. He was, in every sense, the epitome of a servant to his communityβa man whose door was always open to anyone in need.
Ronnie spent decades serving his country and community, retiring as a Sergeant from the Lee County Sheriffβs Office after 30 years of dedicated service. He also proudly served in the United States Army and with the 214th Military Police Company, where he built a legacy of discipline, leadership, and quiet strength.
Ronnie was a proud graduate of Opp High School, Class of 1978, and a lifelong Auburn fan who rarely missed a chance to enjoy a game. Whether he was cheering on the Tigers, working with his hands in the shop, or out in the woods hunting, he found joy in the simple, meaningful parts of life.
He was a true outdoorsman, a talented woodworker, and what many would call a premier grill master. But more than anything, Ronnie was known for his heart. He had a great sense of humor, the kind that could lighten any room, and he was always the first to step up when someone needed helpβno questions asked.
Rest Easy Brother. Prayers for his family of blue and blood.ππ»
