A Fannin County deputy survived what officials called a “planned and intentional ambush" after a man with a scope rifle began shooting at him before he could exit his vehicle.
The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Cory Goode, fired approximately 14 rounds at the officer before committing suicide. The officer wasn't hit but suffered injuries from shattered glass.
Police are still investigating the intent behind the shooting. Goode had a criminal history including drug and assault offenses.

🚨BREAKING: Hawai'i- An evacuation order has been issued for Otake Camp in Waialua due to dangerous flooding. Seek higher ground immediately if you are in the area. The nearest shelter is Wahiawa District Park. Go to high ground. If trapped, go to highest floor/roof. Flood waters can move swiftly and rise rapidly. Driving into flooded areas is extremely dangerous and may result in injury or death. Emergency responders are in the area with high water vehicles to notify anyone in the area and assist with evacuations. It is not necessary to evacuate any other area at this time but residents on the North Shore are encouraged to limit travel to necessary trips only due to flood impacts across the North Shore.
