Please, praying for the Fannin County Sheriff's deputy who was shot in the line of duty this afternoon.🙏🏻

Texas: A suspect was killed in a Fannin County officer involved shooting that injured a deputy.

According to the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded to a call in the 500 block of County Road 5012, near Leonard, when they were met with gunfire.

The sheriff’s office said the deputy had to be taken to the hospital, and the suspect died. They said there is no threat to the public.

UPDATE: Around 10:20 a.m. on 4/9/26, TCSO Deputies were in the area Newcomb and Grand in Porterville serving an eviction notice, when 59-year-old David Morales opened fire on them, hitting Deputy Hoppert.

Deputy Hoppert was rushed to a local hospital, where we are heartbroken to confirm, he passed away.

Shortly before 6 p.m. tonight, Sheriff Boudreaux also announced that the suspect, David Morales, was run over and killed by Deputies driving the Kern County Sheriff’s Office SWAT vehicle.
