A life of service often extends far beyond a single role. Troy Hubert Dalton Jr. dedicated decades to both his country and his community, passing away peacefully on March 25, 2026, surrounded by his family.
He served in the United States Navy from 1988 to 1992 before beginning a 25-year career with the Virginia State Police, where he retired as a sergeant. His commitment to protecting others continued as he later served with the Carilion Police Department at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Known for his strong work ethic and dedication, he took pride in every role he held. Beyond his professional life, he was deeply devoted to his family, leaving behind his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended loved ones who remember his strength and support.
His services were held at Dublin United Methodist Church with interment at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. His life reflects lasting dedication, service, and family values that continue through those who knew him.

π¨ Lake Minnetonka Lodge 6 FOP stands strong for our Hennepin County Sheriff's Office deputies.
County Commissioner Marion Greene's reckless comments are dangerous and irresponsible: "I'm not willing to fund the sheriff to provide public safety."
These words ignore state law, put our communities at risk, and disrespect the men and women who run toward danger every single day β handling shootings, securing courts, serving warrants, and protecting law-abiding families.
Watch National FOP Vice President Joe Gamaldi call it exactly what it is: "This is absolutely disgusting... Everywhere it has been tried, it has brought crime and disorder." Heβs right β our deputies are often the only ones truly looking out for hardworking people who just want safe streets and the ability to walk their kids to school.
Enough with the excuses. Our sheriffβs office needs full funding and respect, not cuts or political games.
Back the Blue. Support our Sheriff. Protect those who protect us.

Mississippi Department of Correction K-9 was killed in the line of duty.
The Marshall County Correctional Facility has lost one of its K-9 officers in the line of duty.
K-9 Officer Floki was found fatally wounded Thursday morning. Prison officials believe the dog was shot around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday while working the back perimeter to prevent contraband from entering the prison.
MBI, along with the Holly Springs Police Department, is investigating the case in collaboration with the facilityβs Corrections Investigation Division (CID).
K-9 Commander Josh Russell found Floki when he went to bring the dog in for water and food. Floki was a 7-year-old multipurpose Dutch Shepherd. He was used for tracking, narcotics detection, and other tasks. He was patrolling along a secured strip of land between two perimeter fences when he was killed.
Rest In Peace, Heroππ€
Commissioner Cain is personally offering a $1,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for shooting and killing Floki.
βItβs a shame to kill a defenseless dog who was doing his job to help us keep contraband out of the prison,β Cain said. "It's just a shame to kill our dog."
Whoever killed the dog should know it is a felony, Cain pointed out. In Mississippi, a conviction for killing or injuring a βpublic service animalβ is punishable by a maximum $5,000 fine, five years in prison, or both.
Anyone with information should contact MCCF Supt. Frank Caswell or the prison's CID at 662-252-7111.
