Some color on who is & isn't being paid in ICE & CBP via the One Big Beautiful Bill.

Most of ICE & CBP are funded through 2029 via the OBBB and operations won't be impacted if they aren't funded through appropriations, for now.

All frontline law enforcement is being paid. The ICE, Border Patrol, and CBP agents we see in the field are all getting paid via OBBB. 

HOWEVER... their professional and civilian support staff are NOT being paid. These are people who work the computers, the public affairs offices, and other support staff who aren't on the front line making immigration arrests, but are supporting the agents who are.

These civilian support staffers haven't been paid for almost half of the last six months when you factor in the prior shutdown last fall. They feel left behind - and feel they have no light at the end of the tunnel with this Senate bill leaving CBP & ICE unfunded through appropriations. They would have to hope GOP could take care of them in a future reconciliation bill, or that more funds could be moved around to pay them.

These are some texts I've gotten from these staffers...

CBP support employee: 

"The senate bill paid TSA but thousands of CBP & ICE professional staff will not be paid.   The last paid work day for me was February 13.  Now senate on paid vacation until April 13 that is a guarantee for 2 months no pay.  Very likely we won’t be paid until May if Johnson lets the bill pass."

ICE civilian employee:

"I have a huge favor. When you guys report on the fact that ICE is funded through OB3 funds, can you please make it known that support staff (i.e. mission support, OPA, etc.) is NOT getting paid?"

HSI civilian employee:
 
"We civilians are not getting paid, I'm working with my mom in the hospital and not getting paid. This is all so frustrating...sorry bill for venting!"

“Well, it wasn't good. NEW: An injured owl found on a busy three-lane roadway in Stevenson Ranch was rescued overnight after CHP Newhall officers stepped in to remove the animal from danger.

The owl was discovered shortly after 10 p.m. on The Old Road, just north of Stevenson Ranch Parkway. According to authorities, the injured bird was lying in the left lane of traffic when officers arrived at the scene.

CHP officers safely stopped traffic and took the owl into custody, removing it from the roadway to prevent further injury and reduce the risk of a traffic collision.

The extent of the owl’s injuries and what led to the incident were not immediately known. The animal is expected to be evaluated and cared for by wildlife professionals.

The Maryland Attorney General Office’s Independent Investigations Division is investigating following an officer-involved shooting Thursday night.

At approximately 8:40 pm, a PGPD Lieutenant conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at 23rd Avenue at East-West Highway. When a backup officer arrived, the driver was asked to exit the vehicle. While one officer stood with the driver, the second officer began searching the vehicle. As the search progressed, the driver jumped back into his vehicle and began to drive away with the officer still in the vehicle. The officer discharged his weapon, striking the suspect. The vehicle ultimately crashed into a pole approximately 100 yards from the initial stop. Emergency medical care was provided to the suspect on scene. He was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Both officers were transported to a hospital for treatment and have since been released. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for their recovery🙏🏻

Wisconsin: An officer was injured following a fight with a suspect during a traffic stop in downtown Madison Thursday. 

A gun and drugs were recovered in the vehicle during a traffic stop around 11:50 p.m.

Members of the Central District Community Policing Team went to pull a vehicle over on South Blair Street. 
Police said during the stop, officers noticed a toddler was not in a car seat.  Officers were trying to identify those in the vehicle, when the passenger reportedly became upset and refused to exit the vehicle. 

After he was removed, the passenger reportedly began to fight officers. 
A loaded gun, drugs and cash were located inside a backpack in the vehicle on the floor of the passenger seat.
