SECOND ATTACK ON LAW ENFORCEMENT IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS IN THE WASHINGTON DC AREA🚨

This afternoon, Montgomery County police officers were shot at from point-blank range while out on proactive patrol at the Cider Mill Apartments on Lost Knife Circle in Montgomery Village, Maryland.

Luckily, the suspect missed every shot, while police returned fire and shot the armed suspect in the torso and leg. He was then transported by MCFRS to a trauma center and is expected to survive. Fortunately, no police officers were injured in the shooting.

This comes just LESS THAN 24 HOURS after a US Park police officer was ambushed by two suspects and shot while sitting in a car in Southeast Washington DC yesterday evening.

The US Park police officer has since been released from the hospital, and two suspects have been arrested for the shooting. We wish that officer a speedy recovery.

OpenAI will soon shut down its Sora AI video-generation app, the company said in a surprising announcement Tuesday.

"We’re saying goodbye to Sora," the company wrote in a post on X. "We’ll share more soon, including timelines for the app and API and details on preserving your work."

The closure of the resource-intensive AI app comes ahead of an expected initial public stock offering from OpenAI in the coming months.

OpenAI has recently come under intense pressure from rival AI company Anthropic, whose AI systems have soared in popularity among leading businesses and software engineers. Anthropic, with its flagship Claude family of AI models, has eschewed products like image and video generation to instead focus scarce computational resources on text and code generation.

NEW: Officers arrested two men from Southeast D.C. for allegedly shooting a U.S. Park Police officer, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Police said 21-year-old Darren Foster of Southeast, DC, was located and stopped shortly after the shooting on Monday. On Tuesday, officers located a second suspect, 22-year-old Asheile Foster of Southeast, DC.
