The Riverside County Sheriffβs Department is showing of the βGrappler,β a new tool to pull over fleeing vehicles during pursuits.
CBS LAβs Joy Benedict got a look at the new tool taking a page out of Spider-Manβs book, deploying a web-like net that wraps around a tire, preventing forward motion, bringing it to a controlled stop and reducing the dangers of high-speed pursuits.
The department has been so happy with the device since it began using it in a test program, that its ordering more to suit up additional department vehicles.

In light of current global events, the Department remains at an elevated level of readiness and is maintaining increased vigilance as we continue to protect our residents of Los Angeles County. We are working closely with our federal and local law enforcement partners to share intelligence and monitor the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and assess any potential impacts in our communities.
The safety of the public remains our highest priority. As part of our preparedness efforts, we remain attentive to all potential threats, including lone-actor attacks, sleeper cells, and advanced technological or cyber-related threats.
Out of an abundance of caution, and in recognition of current religious observances, the Department has continued increased patrols around places of worship, cultural institutions, and other prominent locations throughout the County. We have proactively reviewed our deployment plans, enhanced coordination with our patrol stations, and ensured that additional resources are available should they be needed. Additionally, the Department has cultural liaisons who work directly with community members to address concerns and foster engagement.
We also recognize that some of the most valuable intelligence comes from the public. Our residents are the eyes and ears of our communities, and we encourage everyone to remain aware of their surroundings, including online and in digital spaces. Suspicious activity should always be reported to law enforcement.

WATCH: President Donald J. Trump delivers remarks on the economy in Kentucky.
POTUS at Verst Logistics Manufacturing in Northern Kentucky: "With your help, this family-owned businesses risen from a small trucking operation into a juggernaut... this [is] an unbelievable group of people that built this wonderful company and I want to thank them very much."
Blue collar workers in Kentucky cheer as POTUS mentions the No Tax on Overtime secured in his historic tax cut:
"That means every extra hour you work, your overtime pay is now 100% tax free... Remember that when you go and vote because the Democrats want to end it."
POTUS: I just came from thermofisher in Reading, Ohio, right across the wayβa great American company that's investing $2B in domestic manufacturing. And Ford has announced a $2B assembly plant in Louisville, Kentucky, which will support more than 2,200 Kentucky jobs. π₯
POTUS in Northern Kentucky: "We have added 70,000 new construction jobs... including 8,000 brand new construction jobs in Kentucky... More Americans are working today than any time in history."
POTUS: "I'm pleased to report that earlier today, the IEA agreed to coordinate the release of a record 400 million barrels of oil from various national petroleum reserves... which will substantially reduce the oil prices as we end this threat to America..."
POTUS: "One of the greatest victories we have achieved for hardworking Americans with the help of our great Republican majorities in Congress is No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Social Security, and as I told you before, No Tax on Overtime... and every Democrat voted against it."
DrOzCMS immediately stepped in, along with our great first responders, to help a woman in the audience who suffered a medical episode during POTUS's speech in Kentucky β€οΈ
Verst Logistics CEO Paul Verst praises POTUS' tax cut: "The No Tax on Overtime will greatly benefit our employees, producing an average of $1,400 additional take home pay β per year, per person."
Kentucky bartender tells POTUS what his historic tax cut means for her:
"This year, due to our President's No Taxes on Tips and Overtime policy, I got more in taxes back than I ever have, which has helped me get that much closer to my American Dream. THANK YOU, MR. PRESIDENT!"
N1ckSandmann: "The only thing I can say is, Mr. President, thank you... we will always stand with you."
Jake Paul joins POTUS on stage in Kentucky: "What Mr. Trump has taught me is courage. We never back down from a fight... We need more factories like this thriving all over the country, and I know he's going to be the one to bring that here to us. I know God is with us. I know He wants us on the right side of history."

Meet Gregory Vogelsang.
He kidnapped/lured and molested 5 young kids, one as young as 3 years old.
He was sentenced to 355 YEARS TO LIFE for sexually assaulting children.
A jury convicted him of 23 counts of forcible lewd acts on young boys.
Now heβs being released unless Newsomβs parole board REVERSES this insane decision on March 18th.
Letβs tell the parole board how you feel about serial child predators being released when a judge sentenced him to LIFE.

NEW: An investigation is unfolding in San Bernardino County, CA for a plane that crashed just feet away from the Cable Airport runway Wednesday morning.
"At 10:29am fire crews responded to an aircraft incident at the Cable Airport. Upon arrival, a single engine plane was found upside down, resting on the airport fencing and on Dewey Road.
Two souls were on board. The pilot was not injured, but the passenger, an elderly female was evaluated and transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
It appeared that the small aircraft was unable to stop within the runway distance. The plane struck a soil based embankment, which acts as a safety feature at the end of the runway, and overturned. Both occupants were seat belted. No fire or any other injuries were reported."
