BREAKING: The shooter who fired at officers after fleeing a border checkpoint is identified by DPS as James Douglas McMillan, 33, of Greenfield, Wisconsin and was driving a stolen car from Arizona, Brooke Taylor reports.

According to DPS, around 10:30 am, McMillan fled a checkpoint along I-10 in Sierra Blanca after a USBP drug K-9 alerted to the vehicle and agents directed McMillan to pull over for a secondary search. He led officers on a high speed chase and began shooting out the window at DPS Troopers, other responding law enforcement from the Culberson Co. Sheriff’s Office, Hudspeth Co. Sheriff’s Office, Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) and indiscriminately at civilian vehicles.

As law enforcement returned fire, DPS Troopers performed a precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver and successfully stopped the suspect car.  McMillan barricaded himself in his car and eventually pointed his weapon towards officers – officers then discharged their weapons. He was then shot and killed by law enforcement. No law enforcement officers or civilians were injured.

Kentucky: A fatal two-vehicle crash Tuesday night in Boyle County claimed the life of one man and left a sheriff’s deputy injured. The collision occurred just before 9:30 p.m. on March 3 at the intersection of Hustonville Road and West Shelby Street, according to Kentucky State Police.

Preliminary reports indicate that Boyle County Deputy Zach King was traveling northbound and attempting to turn left onto West Shelby Street when the crash occurred. Investigators say a southbound vehicle driven by 27-year-old Michael Mingey of Lancaster entered the intersection at the same time. Authorities believe Mingey disregarded a traffic control device before colliding with the deputy’s vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported both drivers to a nearby hospital. Mingey later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Deputy King was treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening. No additional details about his condition have been released. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for his recoveryπŸ™πŸ»

Minnesota: One person died and three others were injured after a Ramsey County deputy responding to a pursuit collided with another vehicle Tuesday night in Saint Paul.

According to authorities, Saint Paul police officers located a vehicle reported stolen out of Minneapolis near Seventh Street East and Maria Avenue around 10:45 p.m. Officers began following the vehicle and prepared to initiate a traffic stop as it approached Interstate 94 and Highway 280.

Investigators say the driver fled westbound on Interstate 94 when officers attempted to stop the vehicle. A Minnesota State Patrol trooper performed a PIT maneuver to disable the vehicle and end the pursuit.

Paramedics transported the deputy and the three occupants of the other vehicle to a hospital. The driver of that vehicle later died, one passenger remains in serious condition and the other passenger suffered injuries described as not life-threatening. The deputy’s injuries were also described as not life-threatening. Please, pray for all involvedπŸ™πŸ»

New York: A Rochester police officer was injured Tuesday afternoon during the arrest of a man accused of assaulting a woman during a domestic dispute, according to the Rochester Police Department.
Police said officers responded around 12:30 p.m. to Upper Falls Boulevard and Thomas Street for a report of a family disturbance. During the argument, investigators said the suspect pushed a woman to the ground, causing a head injury.

Officers located the suspect, identified as Antonio Poole, 36, inside a nearby vehicle, police said. He refused repeated commands to exit and became confrontational, according to the department.
While officers were attempting to remove him from the vehicle, the car struck one officer in the lower body, causing injury, police said. The officer was taken to a local hospital and is expected to be out of work for an undetermined period.
