Trooper Jonathan Moore visited Waco Elementary School, where he read The Cat in the Hat to all first-grade classes in Ms. Adkins’, Ms. Crider’s, and Mrs. Coleman’s classrooms.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Florida, announced that Deputy Jeremiah Stewart, 36, died Tuesday morning in the Ruskin–Wimauma area in an apparent suicide.

"With profound sorrow and deep sadness, HCSO shares that one of our deputies took his own life today. Deputy Jeremiah Stewart, 36, worked with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for seven years and is a U.S. Army veteran.

“Today, our entire agency is grieving. We lost a member of our HCSO family, and that pain is shared by every deputy and employee, said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We are lifting up this deputy’s loved ones in prayer and ensuring our deputies have the care, resources and support they need. To anyone who may be struggling, please know there is help and hope. You are not alone.”

The NY Times took California to task for an elections process out of the "pretelegraph era." Not only does it take a month to count votes, but our voter rolls are a mess, ballots are mailed to everyone (requested or not) and Voter ID is banned. The whole system breeds distrust.

Police K-9 helps troopers find 40lbs of marijuana in Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania State Police say they found 40 pounds of marijuana during a recent traffic stop on I‑95 in Delaware County.

Troopers pulled the vehicle over on Feb. 26 in Ridley Township. Police said several indicators of criminal activity prompted K-9 Ivan to conduct a sniff of the vehicle.

Ivan detected the scent of drugs, and during a subsequent search, investigators found approximately 40 pounds of marijuana packed inside boxes and buckets. Troopers also recovered $6,000 in cash.

The driver was arrested and charged with felony possession with intent to deliver narcotics, along with related misdemeanor and summary traffic offenses.

Three people, including an officer, were injured in a dog attack over the weekend in Emeryville, police said.

The Emeryville Police Department said it received numerous reports of dogs fighting at the Pak ’N Save Foods in the 3800 block of San Pablo Avenue around 8:50 a.m. Sunday. Callers said three of the canines were aggressive and attacking bystanders.
Officers contacted the owner of the dogs and launched an investigation, police said, adding that they discovered two people had been bitten and required medical attention.

One of the dogs then bit an officer on the leg, police said. A Taser was used to stop the attack and the officer was taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries.
The dogs, meanwhile, were seized and taken to the Berkeley Animal Shelter for an evaluation.
