NEW: A small plane that departed from Long Island crashed into the Hudson River on Monday night while attempting to make an emergency landing in the City of Newburgh.

It happened near the southbound side of the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge.

City Manager Mike Neppl confirms the aircraft went down within city’s jurisdiction. Two people were onboard and landed about 50 feet off shore. Both were rescued safely.

NEW: Bernalillo County, New Mexico, has issued a Silver Alert for retired Maj. Gen. William Neil McCasland, a former Kirtland leader and past commander of the Phillips Research Site and the Air Force Research Laboratory.

He was last seen Friday morning near Quail Run Court NE. Due to medical concerns, authorities are asking the community to help locate him.

Albuquerque to Tucson is approximately 450 miles by road, about a 6.5 to 7 hour drive depending on route and traffic. He has been missing since Friday.

Saying goodbye to a Bernalillo County Sheriff's deputy killed in the line of duty, hundreds of people turned out on Monday to honor Sergeant Michael Schlattman in a public service.💙

Sergeant Schlattman would have turned 53 on Monday, spending over a decade of his life working for BCSO. Remembering his character, those who knew Schlattman said he was a loving person who was dedicated to his job.

Please, pray for the Pasadena Police Officer who was shot in the line of duty tonight.🙏🏻

A shootout on Monday night left a Pasadena CA Police Department officer wounded and a suspect dead. 

The shooting happened at 7:30 p.m. after police were called to the area for reports of two people arguing. When officers arrived, the suspect and the officers exchanged gunfire, according to city spokesperson Lisa Derderian.

The officer was rushed to the hospital in an unknown condition. The suspect died at the scene.

UPDATE: “Our officer, last check at the hospital, was in surgery in unknown condition,” Chief Harris said and added that the officer was conscious and talking as he was being led into the operating room.
