BREAKING TERRORISM UPDATE – JOINT INVESTIGATION

LVMPD Sheriff Kevin McMahill was joined yesterday afternoon by Chief Timothy Shea of the Boulder City Police Department and Special Agent in Charge Chris Delzotto of the FBI Las Vegas Field Office to provide an update regarding a critical incident that began last night near Boulder City.

On Feb. 19, 2026, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Boulder City Police received a 911 call reporting a vehicle had crashed through a secured gate at a Department of Water and Power substation. The caller also reported hearing gunshots after the crash. Responding officers located a silver Nissan Sentra that had breached the facility’s perimeter fence and come to rest inside the secured area.

Officers discovered a deceased adult male in the driver’s seat suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Multiple firearms were observed inside the vehicle.

Search warrants were executed on both the suspect’s vehicle and his hotel room at the El Rancho Boulder Hotel. Investigators recovered explosive materials and components including thermite, ammonium nitrate, magnesium ribbon, metal pipes, and gasoline.

Additional items recovered from the vehicle included:
β€’ Two shotguns
β€’ An AR-style pistol
β€’ Numerous loaded AR magazines with .223 ammunition
β€’ A box of shotgun shells
β€’ Two thermite-based incendiary devices
β€’ A crowbar and hatchet
β€’ A cellular phone (pending forensic analysis)

The suspect was also wearing soft body armor at the time of the incident.

LVMPD’s Counterterrorism Section, FBI Las Vegas, and the ARMOR Task Force continue working diligently to advance the investigation.

Homeland security remains a top priority for Sheriff McMahill and LVMPD will continue investing in the people, technology, intelligence capabilities, and partnerships necessary to stay ahead of emerging threats.

We will release more details as we learn more."

⚠️ NY: NOW is the time to prepare. A Blizzard Warning begins Sunday morning and continues into Monday. Heavy snow, strong winds, and near whiteout conditions are expected, with the worst impacts Sunday night through Monday morning.

What we're expecting:
🌨️ 13-17 inches of snow forecasted across the city, with the highest totals over southern portions of NYC closer to the storm's core. A 20-25% chance of a worst-case scenario bringing 20-23 inches.

πŸ•• Light snow expected to begin around 6 AM Sunday, gradually increasing after noon. Moderate snow by 6 PM, then rapidly intensifying.

πŸŒ€ Heaviest snowfall expected to be from 10 PM Sunday through 10 AM Monday, with rates easily exceeding 1.5 inches per hourβ€”and potential bursts of 2-3 inches per hour.

πŸ’¨ Sustained winds of 25-35 mph with gusts of 40-50 mph out of the north-northeast, increasing through Sunday and remaining dangerous through Monday evening.

πŸ“Š Forecast confidence is increasing, but details may still shift as the storm approaches. Regardless of exact totals, significant impacts are certain. Continue monitoring official sources for updates.

πŸš— The Monday morning commute will be extremely hazardous. Peak snowfall rates and peak winds will coincide, creating slippery conditions, limited mobility, and near-zero visibility. Avoid traveling.

✈️ Air travel is expected be significantly impacted. Blizzard conditions typically cause widespread flight cancellations, delays, and ground stops at JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark. High winds, low visibility, and the need to clear runways and de-ice aircraft will disrupt operations Sunday night through Monday, with ripple effects lasting into Tuesday or beyond.

If you have travel plans, check your flight status directly with your airline before heading to the airport. Contact your airline now about rebooking options. Do not wait at the airport; delays and cancellations can leave travelers stranded for hours. Build extra days of flexibility into your plans if possible.

βœ… Prepare nowβ€”not Sunday:
Finish errands and grocery shopping today (Saturday). Charge phones, tablets, and backup batteries. Stock medications, baby supplies, pet food, and essentials for 2-3 days. Check in with elderly neighbors or family members who may need support. If you rely on powered medical equipment, confirm your backup plan.

Plan now to adjust travel, work, childcare, and caregiving plans. More tips: https://t.co/3t3I1pb2xQ and https://t.co/QxnNdasIGx

🏠 Need a warm place? Drop-in centers are open across the city: https://t.co/EFXZuHmbhL

🏫 Expect disruptions:
Schools, childcare, medical offices, and workplaces may announce closures or delays for Monday. Build flexibility into your plans and monitor official channels for updates.

BREAKING: Today, President Trump directed FEMA and EPA to provide emergency assistance to the District of Columbia as they work to protect people from the effects of the recent spill in the Potomac. EPA Lee Zeldin and I will stay in close contact to ensure coordinated federal support to the District.

FEMA is deploying a team to support incident management, working directly with local officials and federal partners to coordinate federal resources. EPA will lead the federal response while DHS and FEMA leverage all our resources to ensure the cleanup is swift and effective.

Even as Democrat politicians shut us down and these men and women go without pay, DHS is committed to providing much needed aid to the Americans impacted by this disaster. We will not let our citizens suffer without help.

The community is rallying around an Orleans Parish sheriff's deputy injured in a motorcycle accident while performing a police escort in the line of duty.

Deputy Bennie Collura was performing a motorcycle escort while on duty on Feb. 5 when he was involved in an accident that left him severely injured.

"He's going to be off his feet for the next few months," said Sgt. Jamil Champagne, with OPSO. "Unfortunately, the type of injury he has, he's going to be bedridden for a while. So he needs all of our prayers and support."

It unfolded the same day as the funeral for Jefferson Parish Deputy Chris Ohlmeyer, who was killed after being hit on his motorcycle while working a funeral procession.

Both accidents are a stark reminder of the dangers on the road.

"Know that we share the road with motorists, with bicycle people and just to slow down and make sure that you're safe," said Champagne.

Collura has been with the OPSO for roughly 15 years, working as a detective, motorcycle sergeant and K9 officer.

Please join us in lifting him and his family up in prayer, asking for strength, healing, and a full and swift recovery.πŸ™πŸ»
