NEW: Three New York State Police troopers suffered injuries that weren't life-threatening during a 30-plus-mile pursuit of an accused drunken driver Feb. 11 from Livingston to Pleasant Valley.

At about 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, a state trooper assigned to the Livingston barracks attempted to stop a 2010 Ford pickup traveling on state Route 82 in Livingston for alleged violations of the state Vehicle and Traffic Law. The driver failed to comply, and a pursuit began on the Taconic State Parkway southbound, according to a press release.

The driver and sole occupant, identified as Stephen M. Preston, 36, of Cairo, “intentionally struck five marked State Police vehicles during the pursuit, causing damage to all five vehicles,” police said.

The pickup was ultimately disabled in the vicinity of mile marker 53.1 in Pleasant Valley following the successful deployment of a “stinger device,” police said. Stinger devices are used to puncture vehicles’ tires.
Preston was arrested and charged with the felonies of driving while intoxicated, criminal mischief (five counts), assault (three counts), attempted assault (three counts) and the misdemeanors of unlawfully fleeing and resisting arrest, police said.

Virginia: A Pittsylvania County deputy was airlifted Thursday afternoon following a crash involving a county patrol vehicle, according to Sheriff Mike Taylor.

Sheriff Taylor told rbs news now, “The Virginia State Police is investigating the circumstances of the crash so I would respectfully ask that the details come from the investigating trooper.”

Taylor added that the deputy was flown to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center “out of an abundance of caution,” and said the deputy appeared alert and responsive to first responders at the scene.
No additional details were released.

WATCH: Texas DPS and Homeland Security Investigations were involved in a chase on the southeast side Friday morning that ended in a crash.

Troopers say it began near Kirby off Gibbs Sprawl Rd. and Old Seguin Rd. when DPS assisted federal agents. The driver of a Dodge Charger led officers for miles before crashing into two vehicles at Pecan Valley Dr. and E. Southcross Rd, according to CodeThreeNews.

The suspect was taken into custody.

NEW: Despite heroic actions by a Utah County Sheriff's Deputy, a driver died in a fiery crash with an SUV in Eagle Mountain.

The deputy pulled the driver of a passenger car out of the car which was on fire. But the driver died due to their injuries.

Two people in the SUV were also injured, officials said.
